Shadow Minister Calls Voter 'Horrible Racist'
[Pat Glass apologises for her comments after a
gaffe reminiscent of Gordon Brown's "bigoted woman" remark during the 2010 election.] http://media.skynews.com/media/image...-1-736x414.jpg http://news.sky.com/story/1698925/sh...orrible-racist Lucky it was Radio [It came during a radio interview when she described an exchange with a voter who said a Polish family living in the town were “scroungers”. “The very first person I come to was a horrible racist,” she told BBC Radio Derby. “I’m never coming back to wherever this is.”] |
just shows you what a total farce half of the "oh i was speaking to voters on the doorstep this week" bollocks that politicians come out with
This ridiculous woman had no idea where she was or could care less about their concerns Typical labour - oh they expressed a concern about immigration=racism disgusting |

If they were banging on about "Polish Scroungers" I'd be willing to hazard a guess that she wasn't far wrong about this person. I know the type. They bloody well are bigots and racists

Gordon was right too, it is bigotry. So like it or not she was right. To say she wasn't going back to wherever it was is wrong, why tar everyone with the same brush?

Unbelievable that she forgot where she was, although I have at times when rushing around.
The general acceptance of the incident was that the person said they were Polish scroungers. Had that been said about anyone from Pakistan or India for instance, they would have likely, and rightly in my view, had a talking to or been even arrested for a possible racist or offensive public comment. Politicians really need to be careful of what they say now anywhere, as depending on the party, mainstream or not any unguarded comments will be headline news it seems. UKIP have suffered badly from that in the past for silly comments made by their supporters or candidates too. If the person who said they were Polish scroungers as a family without really knowing them but just knew of them, then maybe what this MP said back was justifiably what that person warranted being said to them. Does this sort of thing affect voters, probably not, the mentioning of Gordon Brown's incident from 2010,still resulted in the lady he had the problem with, supporting Labour and indeed them still winning the seat of Rochdale too. Another storm in a teacup. |
This caller may actually have Polish scroungers on their street:shrug:
Plus if the claim was unfounded then it would be xenophobia not racism. The problem with politicians is that they live in their nice little houses in their lovely areas and they don't see what goes on in the average persons daily life.So they band about words like "racist" when people are voicing their legitimate concerns. |
Its not racism, its ignorance and the problem with ignorance is, it can easily come over as a bigoted political attitude. Instead of Labour walking away from or even apologising for insulting an ignorant person, its time they came up with a plan to make these numb skulls more financially literate about how immigration works within our economy because until they do that, they are on a hiding to nothing. One things for sure...you can't argue with ignorance.

It is correct that "reverse racism" is bollocks and does'nt exist.
It is just racism and anybody white, black, brown or yellow can experience it and perpetrate it.Nobody is immune from racism. |

You're the one that, if I wanted to, I could dig up plenty of threads where you shoot down Gay and Women's Rights under the guise that men's rights comes first above everything else. Everything you post is part of an agenda against anyone who isn't a straight white male. |

The problem with bigots is they don't know enough about the average persons daily life so they band about words like 'scrounger' and have no legitimate concerns. |
the trouble is that, these politicans live in their own little bubble, and believe in there own egotistical propaganda, they put there own ideologies before there voters, or the country first, that's why left-wing europe is dying, the likes of merkel, blair and others, should be jailed for treason, and causing the biggest unemployment, for the younger generation, and also making poverty worse in the uk, and workers who have lost their jobs, are treated like scum of the earth, and when people from eastern europe just walk into this country and get money, by just asking, and have not paid one penny too this country, and all those mps should have there wages, cut by 50 percent, and give it to people who, have lost their jobs, its politicans like that person on the radio, who don't know what it is like in the real world where, your wages drop or your out on the streets, all they care about is being in the little EU-club, and having there pockets filled with gold,
