Fracking Halted In North Yorkshire

first title:
Fracking Given Green Light In North Yorkshire

[Councillors have approved an
application by a UK company
to frack for shale gas near the
village of Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire.
Third Energy has become the
first company to be given the
go-ahead for fracking, which
has not taken place in the UK
since 2011.
Five years ago, tests on
the Fylde coast in Lancashire
were found to have been the
likely cause of minor earthquakes in the area.]

:fist::fist:
They should start this malarkey in the middle of nowhere, not so close to those beautiful villages.

Scarlett. 23-05-2016 08:38 PM

They shouldnt start it at all, its a pointless exercise.

DemolitionRed 27-05-2016 08:26 AM

Yet another law sneaked in by the backdoor that hasn't become fully apparent until recently. If this was deliberately hidden from publicity and hushed up rather than being open to public debate then shame on this government.

i'm happy for them to frack anywhere provided it is not in the UK :idc:

“Third Energy has been drilling wells and producing gas safely and discreetly from this site in Kirby Misperton for over 20 years and we will continue to maintain the same standards in the future.”

We've never had a voice :(

The govt are going all out for shale, there's not a lot we can do about it I'm not saying councils were bribed, but that's how it appears to me.

Meanwhile, solar energy companies are going bust in the UK :(

Kizzy 27-05-2016 02:27 PM

I live in North Yorkshire and believe me we have protested this at every step.

Kizzy 19-02-2018 02:48 PM

I live in west yorks but work in north yorks, they have fingers in some very destructive pies!

Crimson Dynamo 19-02-2018 03:49 PM

What a shame for the local economy and energy independence if it does not go ahead

bots 19-02-2018 05:10 PM

i don't give a frack

jaxie 19-02-2018 05:16 PM

This feels like a very bad idea to me. I don't have any science really to go on, just a feeling that the process sounds very bad for the environment.

Marsh. 19-02-2018 05:23 PM

This is fracking frustrating.

Crimson Dynamo 19-02-2018 05:27 PM

There is a study not yet published (USA) on the affect on drinking water fracking can have. Once published that will have a big influence one way or tuther. Could be the green light we need in the UK
