Public toilets 'wiped out in parts of UK'

Public toilets 'wiped out in parts of UK' 31.05.16

we all pay council tax

so why this drivel that's runny

combustion is brought to the max

move out the way this is now not funny.

shame on every council locally

not providing for the many

actions will express better then being vocally

go in any street and spend a penny.

the cost to clear the excrement

will have the public toilets self reward

this is no criminal incitement

for initiative millions need a reward.

we are your boss

its time to demand more connivance

the public are no longer willing to leg cross

just behind this message board shows obedience.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36405414 if you feel your local council should provide more W/C feel free to copy and paste my poem to them and after receiving it a few times - they may realize i am not chatting what goes in a toilet and might, just might, start providing us all with a place to spend a penny.

I read this this morning, one woman saying her husband who suffers from Parkinson's Disease wet himself after not being able to find anywhere and being refused by high street shops to use their toilets. I can't believe that in an age where we're supposedly 'advanced' in so many ways, we can't cater for a most basic of human needs. The fact that there doesn't seem to be any problem with the number of public toilets in tourist areas just goes to show that the issue is money... are we really going to be so tight as a society that we're ok with letting elderly/infirm people suffer that kind of indignity to save a few quid? Really bothers me this kind of story. (Sorry Hog, couldn't work that into a poem... my imagination just isn't... flowin') (That almost rhymes )

I think this is pathetic, and if this becomes a nationwide I think, i hope the streets are filled with piss. If you need to go, you need to go.

In my town there is 5 urinals in the high street, they are so convenient after a night out. Compared to the next town over which smells like piss because there are no public toilets around.

we have public toilets in town but they're 30p

Samm 31-05-2016 09:54 AM

I hate public toilets, they stink and never get cleaned anyway

DemolitionRed 31-05-2016 10:42 AM

I guess they are relying on cafes and stores like M&S and Debenhams to provide toilet facilities.

I've got to admit, I don't like public toilets that are unmanned because they get used for things other than bodily functions.

user104658 31-05-2016 10:42 AM

They've just shut the only one in the town that I work in, it's a pain in the arse... because people come in to use ours instead. Technically the company policy is "customer use only"... the unofficial policy though is "No drunks or junkies". If some poor old soul comes in I'm not going to tell them they have to place a bet before they can take a piss.

Doesn't help everyone though; it's an age-resticted premises which means no one under 18 can even step through the door... which means a lot of angry parents when their bursting kid can't use the toilets.

There's a Subway next door and a few little cafés but all are strictly custmers only (though I doubt they'd turn away a small child)... other than that, the nearest available toilets are at ASDA / Tesco, both of which are a good 10 minute walk for someone slower like the elderly or a child. Not much use.

They only re-opened the public toilets after YEARS of being shut down, about a year and a half ago. They spent quite a bit on refurbishing them... but they got trashed / vandalised / deliberately flooded by kids on at least a monthly basis... and it's not realistic to staff them 24/7 so to be honest I understand why they've been closed

The one in our village and the next town over are those spacey ones that clean themselves after a person uses it. Like that one in the picture below

Ireland clearly have better hygiene then

It is annoyingly hard to find public toilets when you need them and its a bit embarrassing to try and sneak through a pub or a cafe to try and use theirs. Also I hate paying for the privilege of taking a piss so no to 30p charges everywhere

Marsh. 31-05-2016 06:16 PM

If I see a toilet that has the cheek to charge you for using them then I usually do a poo outside of it to make a point.

I won't comment on marsh - if you hate paying that much - just jump the barrier. :joker:

I think it's 25c or something to use those ones like what I posted here, tbh I'd rather pay that for a relatively clean public toilet than use a manky one for free :hee:

Yeah I was in Wales on Monday and couldn't find any public toilets as all the shops said 'No non customer toilets' and when I eventually found one (it was one of those paid ones) the queue was massive so I ended up having to wait until I got all the way back home to England to have a wee

Shocking

If they can get rid of the toilets they can increase the amount of public bins, there's areas in bristol where you have to walk miles and I hate litter
