Biggest sports upsets by year?
Bit of shamless self-promotion, but still worth discussing.
I started a project in recent weeks looking at the biggest sporting upsets of each year, counting down from ten to one and (hopefully working our way through to 1990. As of now I've done videos from 2015 to 2012, the 2012 one had to be uploaded on Vimeo because UEFA and FOM are tyrants: https://vimeo.com/168453626 https://vimeo.com/170870092 https://vimeo.com/183858658 https://vimeo.com/190459705 |
Another entry into the sports upsets series, as we take a look at 2011. A year that was both a blessing and a curse for Newcastle United fans and gave the world of motor racing one of it's biggest fairytales.

Continuing our sports upsets series by taking a look back at 2010, a year where football dominated the minds of many in the form of the World Cup whilst a sporting legend rolled back the years in the most unlikely of fashion. |
I like these, they're fun and interesting.
Obviously Leicester and Portugal have got to join the 2016 Sporting upsets. I would also say that Querrey knocking Djokovic out of Wimbledon is another one too. |
Great vids! Of recent memory Rousey getting KTFO by Holm was a huge upset but she deserved it, she had gotten far too big for her boots.

Jessica Pegula upsets Samantha Stosur with 7-5, 6-0
http://cdn.tennis.com/uploads/wysiwy...g_-_Diliff.jpg for the ones who don't know Jessica Pegula, she's the daughter of a billionaire Terry Pegula, i don't like her, and maybe her daddy bribed this particular match :hehe: |
It's been a while since I uploaded these on here, but I have produced videos from 2010 all the way through to 2005. You can find them on the first post of this thread.
As ever feedback is appreciated, especially in regards to the sports I am choosing, what is being rated too low, too high etc. |
As some of you may know, copyright restrictions on YouTube have meant that I have been unable to upload a selection of my Top Ten Upset Videos onto YouTube, so before I start working on the 2004 entry I am going to set about uploading new versions of the missing videos, starting with 2011:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdibSqzWmm0 This new version features alternative, YouTube friendly clips that don't break copyright, as well as a slight shuffle of the countdown order, I have also used this opportunity to tighten the video's editing up and to redo the graphics package in line with some of the more recent uploads. I hope that people can appreciate the work, and feedback is appreciated. |
2007 has been made YouTube friendly as well. Thankfully for this one there was only one clip (#1) that I needed to sort out.

2005 is up:

Whilst I wait to try and work around copyright restrictions for 2004 (Damn you UEFA). Here is the countdown for 2003's biggest upsets, where big-serving Ivo Karlovic got Wimbledon off to the best possible start, and an unknown American rocked the world of golf.
|
After a brief spell away working on other projects, I have turned my attention back to the upset countdown. A year where the World Cup was turned on it's head while an Australian shoe manufacturer lucked his way to Olympic glory.
In this video we focus on 2001, a year where Roy Essandoh showed the benefits of Ceefax, while a player ranked 125 in the world went on to make Wimbledon history. |
