In the EU vote, do you believe that the outcome will be legitimate (i.e. not rigged)?

Do you believe that if a majority of voters go to the polls wanting to vote to leave, that this will be the reported result? Stalin once said that it is not who casts the vote but who counts them that really matters. I am an observer from across the sea but it seems to me that all of the establishment is in favor of remain as is the media. Do you think there is any real possibility of voter fraud if the actual results don't go the way the elite want?

bots 07-06-2016 11:50 PM

we have an independent voting commission monitoring together with both sides examining the voting and counting, so, yes, i believe the outcome will be legitimate

You're clearly not observing hard enough, then

Northern Monkey 08-06-2016 12:09 AM

Yeah it'll be legit. We're not a corrupt state.

Wizard. 08-06-2016 12:12 AM

Well there is an official investigation in the general election as it was suspicious that Cameron and the Tories won a majority so I'm not sure.

the truth 08-06-2016 01:18 AM

rigged obviously. the corporations will not allow brexit

MB. 08-06-2016 01:18 AM

"Obviously"

Tom4784 08-06-2016 01:21 AM

The majority of people want to stay in the EU and they'll vote accordingly, it's not corruption, it's democracy and sour grapes from Brexit supporters.

That's more in line with what I was thinking. Actually, I think anyone who benefits from the status quo will not allow it. The corporations, the big banks, and the politicians eyeing a nice easy, lucrative job in Brussels.

The older I get the more I feel the primary function of elections is to placate the electorate by making them think their voice matters.

If the government really wanted to rig it in favour of Remain they could have done two things: give 16 and 17 year olds the vote and allow expats abroad to vote. Both would have pretty much guaranteed the victory. They did neither.

Did anyone watch Reg in BBC on Monday night? Reg went up against Tony Blair in Sedgefied after his son was killed in Iraq, 3 times the vote counter put a vote for Reg on Tony's count, makes you wonder

It's not like the margin of victory was narrow there though lol

No but my point is that was one counter who made what the supervisor said was an "honest mistake", is every counter watched?

the fact that its public knowledge proves that the process is transparent.

On the EU vote, one also needs to be aware that there are establishment figures on both sides of the vote with equal power and influence. Voting is usually rigged by coercing the voters at the polling stations. That just doesn't happen in this country

It was interesting though that the counter made the mistake of adding to Tony Blairs pile in the 3 instances that he was caught given there were maybe 10 candidates, I think all processes are open to abuse no matter how transparent, In this case the counter himself was most likely biased rather than anything more sinister

I agree, they could have even put in a lock to help as to the result too, such as 2 UK Nations had to vote to leave for it to be binding on the govt, or link any result to turnout or even a minimum majority needed for it to be binding.

The way David Cameron has in the end done this referendum, has not in any way assisted the remain side.
More credit to him for that and I have criticised heavily him not giving 16/17 years olds the vote on this as to 'their' futures.

If the leave side fail to win here narrowly, they should be grateful it was not a likely even bigger loss to their cause.

Livia 08-06-2016 09:25 AM

Having worked with and for the Electoral Commission, I'm confident that everything will be above board.

the truth 08-06-2016 10:53 AM

camerons made an absolute ass of himself...all he had to do was deliver some facts instead of his hysterical manipulation of the facts his way over the top brainwashing via his his elitist buddies and mass exaggeration ..not to forget his complete u turn and contradiction of most of these issues. hes actually encouraged more to vote no

bots 08-06-2016 10:58 AM

and of course the out campaign is not based on hysteria at all

lostalex 08-06-2016 11:01 AM

I don't believe that the UK will leave the EU, by hook or by crook.

To directly answer your question, no i don't believe that if the majority votes out it will be reported. only if it was a huge landslide would it happen, but we all know it's not a huge landslide which makes it easy for them to make sure it won't happen.

It won't happen, and it won't be allowed to happen even if it narrowly did get the most votes. It would have to be a landslide which it won't be.
