Is this one of the saddest things you've ever read?

I think I'm gonna send her a card from me and Meowzie :flutter: |

As soon as I finish writing this I'm going to pick out the nicest card I can find and send it to Hallee. I hope this year she has a wonderful birthday.:bday: |
I genuinely find stories such as this heartwarming not heartbreaking, and this little girl - like so many other autistic people - is an example to all those whinging, whining, ingrates who are blessed with good health but consider themselves 'hard done to' in life.
The article also says as much about the huge heart and generosity of spirit of Becky - the author - as it does about the beautiful Halee. I will buying and sending a very special card and a little gift. |

God Bless you. :flowers::kiss: |
Awww... I'm sending one.

I'm so cynical, I always assume these FB appeals are scams :laugh:

Very easy scam to pull off as well really, one picture and and a sob story and they get inundated with gifts and all sort
Bit rich of the person taking the pic to complain about people not turning up as well when they have opted to sit at a table on the other side of the room rather than join the party :nono: |

I hope it is genuine. I've fallen for an Internet sob story once already this year. I'd be super worried publishing their address though, only takes one sociopath with a bucket of anthrax for this to go horribly wrong. |

It sounds tio me like she does not have any friends as such and her cousin sent out a load of invites to randoms hoping people would turn up and naturally they thought, er what? awkward I will just not go and hope other folks do and they did not, I blame the cousin for being a bit naive and not having a party with relatives.

Screams SCAM to me.
so the picture is meant to depict she has no friends...where are her ruddy family. All a bit too suspect to me. |
To be fair I don't really see how it could be a scam, asking for birthday cards isn't much of an extortion and if people send her gifts/money inside the cards then that's just them doing more than what was asked :shrug:

I didnt even think about it being a scam because (I think i've posted about it on here before) the thought of someone having a birthday party alone is one of the saddest things I could ever think of. Like it makes me feel sick inside, it upsets me that much. I hate the thought of a kid or a teenager (or anyone really) getting all excited to see their friends and have fun, only to have no one turn up and feel so stupid and unloved. Ugh it literally makes my heart ache,
I'm going to send her a card and one of the giftcards I got for my birthday that I wont use. Its american so I'm glad that i can put it to use! |
...hmmm, I'm not sure what the scam would be if this was a scam but it does make me feel a bit uncomfortable that an 18yr old vulnerable person's surname and address have been 'put out there' on social media and the internet in general, when the content of the post would show how protective her family are/it just doesn't quite sit right really...I wouldn't have thought that was a well thought out thing to do, although her intentions may have been well meaning.../I just don't know...
