Have you faced scorn and derision from being a Big Brother fan?

Each year I find greater hostility from work colleagues and friends from even mentioning Big Brother. Makes me feel like it's a dirty secret I have to keep to myself. It's a shame as it can be one of the best shows on TV once it gets going.

That's why I joined the forum  Now I just get scorn and derision from other forum members :fist:

Josy 11-06-2016 08:12 AM

Yeah, normally people say to me 'are you still watching that ****e' [emoji23]

I laugh it off though, I've been a massive fan since day one and will stay to the end.

No because nobody knows.Only my misses and parents.I came out to them all years ago about my BB addiction. The problem is that i know it's all fake crap but i watch it anyway.I can't stop.I think i've seen 99% or more of all episodes since it started.

hot2go 11-06-2016 10:04 AM

It's my guilty pleasure and why it is mystifies my friends who like it and dislike it....because they all know I hate every other reality show that exists ....i think if maybe it hadn't started out as a social experiment then I wouldn't have picked it up later....I love seeing the interaction and the mind games that take place....cud care less about the cocks and the fake boobs and the ones who just spend all day doing their hair....I like the players, that's why I like Andrew

I don't know a single person who watches normal BB and never hear it discussed. I'm not ashamed to say I watch it tho tbh.

My mum says 'ugh that ****e is back on?'
and then she watches with me from day 2

rionablue 11-06-2016 10:39 AM

I get plenty of flack on facebook in particular even though some of my friends also watch it and we have the banter. The biggest reaction is my husbands when I tell him its starting again and he says 'WELL HOW MANY WEEKS IS THAT TRIPE ON FOR THIS TIME' then he spends most of the time in the kitchen watching what he wants on TV. I am a fan of most reality programmes and I don't see why people knock me for it as I don't knock golfing fanatics (its like watching paint dry) documentary fanatics or any oter genre that people love watching

Haha that's what i used to say when i was in denial.

Samm 11-06-2016 02:11 PM

Not really, I know a few people who watch it

LukeB 11-06-2016 02:12 PM

No not really  but I do get called sad when I watch international versions.

Greg! 11-06-2016 02:13 PM

I only know about two people who watch it in real life. But I'm not judged by people who don't watch it because younger people tend to be more tolerant of others interests than old people. No offence to the oldies on here

I'm the same with everything you say here except the bolded part...I enjoy the players but I ultimately want them to fail and a genuine but interesting HM to win.

Maxxie. 11-06-2016 02:19 PM

Pre-2014 yes, but Celebrity Big Brother seems to be talked about occasionally at school in recent years so I join in that a little bit but basically pretend i'm not obsessed with it

Yeah Big Brother (usually Celeb more than Civilian) and Love Island are the most popular

Shaun 11-06-2016 02:36 PM

I'd say it gets the stigma and the hostility it deserves

I've had some fave winners, not many....from the civilian series Brian Dowling and Anthony Hutton and from CBB Jack Dee, Julian Clary and James Hill. All male.
If you are a female favourite of mine, you never win. Gemma? :hehe:
