Anyone from Surrey/London area?

I need to go down to Surrey soon, and I'm going by train.
I'll be going with just me and a friend and I have never traveled alone before so I'm pretty dopey about this.

1) Do I get a train to London, then how do I get to Surrey?
2) Are there any trains from Newc to Surrey?
3) What else can I do?

Thanks in advance

Go to your train station (the one your leaving from) and ask them, they will print you out all the times, dates and what stations etc. That's how i get about to Scotland etc.

I asked someone who works on trains, and apparently I need to get a train to London Kings Cross and then get on a 40 minute Tube Journey to Surrey Quays.

But... I don't wanna go on the tube, I'm just new to all of this traveling stuff. LMAO. And the tube? Bit hardcore for me!
But London taxis will cost me a bomb (Probably literally).

Lauren, contrary to popular belief, there ARE some pretty helpful dudes who use the tube, dont be afraid to ask, its not that difficult a journey really.
DONT get a taxi unless you want to part with the best part of £40.

Just been reading up on this Lauren, basically you will have to get the train from wherever you are to London, then you can catch a train from London Waterloo station to Surrey which takes about 30 minutes, obviously this might not take you to exactly where you want to go so you would have to get a bus - hope that helps a little.

Thanks Mike

And thanks everyone else.

I'm gonna go with this option, then once I am in Surrey get a taxi to University of Surrey (Where I need to go).

Is London Kings Cross far from Waterloo Station? Lmao sorry if these seems obvious

London Kings Cross and Waterloo Station are about 3 miles apart, you can walk it in about 25 minutes or just get a taxi which would take about 10 minutes maximum.

I'm still not sure if I am staying overnight or not, so I am still not sure where to stay.

But I'll be visiting University of Surrey, so any place around there.

Oh and thanks for the links Feral. I rang Durham station and they quoted me around £40 there and £40 back (To London Kings X) (They originally quoted £190!)
Then about £20 for 2 to Surrey from Waterloo.
And theeennnn - I need taxi fares. And then on top of that I may need B&B's in Surrey - - cheap B&B's.

Seems like a really good Uni.I am currently dealing with the (head of ?) electronics dept.( J Redman), who is so nice and helpful. She is linking my business with a student who will be doing some part time micro electronics work with us soon.I`m sure you already have the main number 01483 683076, but if you ring they will certainly advise you of cheaper ,student style local accommodation and your best route too.Anyway, have a good day.
