Orlando Gay Massacre

I think Orlando Gay Massacre should've been mentioned on BBOTS!?
Ryland could have spared 30 sec on the issue, as he is gay man and BBUK have a vast gay following. Shame, really..

Firewire 15-06-2016 03:02 PM

It's got nothing to do with BOTS though

*mazedsalv** 15-06-2016 03:08 PM

It was a terrible tragedy OBVIOUSLY.

But why would they? Did X Factor live shows do that when the Paris attacks happen? Did any other shows do that when anything else happened in the world? Just like they wouldn't if something happened here. I really doubt they mentioned the London Bombings in a BBUSA on a live show.

Wizard. 15-06-2016 03:12 PM

It's not really relevant and would actually make them look disrespectful and as a way of using it for the show is kinda nasty, something I'm surprised they didnt do tbh

When Michael Jackson died, BB let housemates know, even though it had nothing to do with the show. So..

BBOTS is full of empty ramblings with nothing at all, 30 sec mention is not hard to do, BBOTS has a gay host, big gay following, and BBUK2016 has many gay housemates this year. So..

Tbf they kinda did by changing two of the songs that had reference to guns in them

But I agree with you that it's not really necessary to mention it on BOTS.

The reason that they had to tell them MJ died was because Federico went in and said it to Noirin. To which Noirin had to go into the DR to ask BB whether she was allowed. BB said that now Noirin knows, she may as well tell the others.

Rob! 15-06-2016 03:14 PM

Well no because Rylan isn't the spokesperson for the whole of the gay community?

Tony Awards mentioned it, many many shows mentioned it, and it was very very respectful.

Tom4784 15-06-2016 03:16 PM

It might have looked oportunistic on BOTS' part tbh.

*mazedsalv** 15-06-2016 03:17 PM

If they had to mention everything that happened in the world, they'd be doing it continuously every single show.

As I said, I doubt the London bombings were mentioned by Julie Bot during BB? In theory, BBUSA6 started on 7th July, did they mention it on BB6 Launch? (going by timezones, BBUSA6 would have started like 3 hours after the news broke out.

yea, i personally think that they should have taken the opportunity and use it for good. and create awareness of homophobia and gun control. it all depend on the intent. i say it's missed opportunity.

Rob! 15-06-2016 03:19 PM

Let's be honest a show that has Tiffany waving dildos around would hardly be the appropriate place to bring it up really would it?

Agree- it might have appeared it was being trivialised being mentioned on a show like BBots.

camertone 15-06-2016 03:23 PM

Yep.

Are you calling it a gay massacre because the shooter was gay?

I'm sure people are aware of those problems without a mention on a trashy spin off show

fitz2k2 15-06-2016 03:29 PM

Actually many shows in USA mentioned it afterwards.. and it was nice and respectful.. Paris attack mentioned on X-factor. BBUSA was prerecorded and next episode aired like 5 days later. Dunno if it was mentioned later. I am not saying everything should be mentioned. Then again BBUK producers seem to fail even the most basic tasks lately, so it is maybe wrong to expect anything good or of substance from them.

Why are you getting so fickle. It wasn't a terrorist attack, according to the clubs owners and patrons, it was one of their own gay customers who flipped out and took revenge on his own. This is a mass murder by a person clearly uncovered as a homosexual. It does not warrant mentions on a gay show or even one that is run by gay people, its a human interest story that has tragic undertones.

MB. 15-06-2016 03:44 PM

I forgot gay people can't be terrorists, thanks for the reminder Sam!
