How to spot a suspicious package

In light of the current security situation I have dug out an old file of mine from my NVQ Business Admin 3 on how to spot these suspect packages.

Recognition of suspicious packages
Signs to look out for
• Smell of marzipan
• Package unevenly weighted
• Evidence of wires, either in or out of the package
• Grease marks on the package
• Addressed to a non existent person, or a person no longer present
• No return address

If you receive a package with any combination of these signs, treat as suspicious

When dealing with a suspicious package
1. Do Not open it
2. Clear the room
3. Call 999, ask for the police and report a suspicious package

also add
• Is the style of handwriting or form of address unusual?

my mum sent me a marzipan cake from her home in Dundee through the post yesterday. .. they intercepted it at Birmingam, it was blown up by bomb disposal team.

I letter bomb went off at the DVLA yesterday in Swansea
And apparenty there has been loads of the same incedents all around the UK and they are all associated with cars.

It's scary when you think about it. Thanks Sticks:thumbs:

Also, it may have excessive postage on it, to make sure it gets to the intended target, as they would not want to hand it over at a post office counter.

I'm gonna be schizo everytime I see a package now, I'll end up smelling someones postage for marzipan and checking for grease marks.

Also, such a package would be heavily sealed at one end to ensure the victim opened the easier and intended part. However I don`t think any
of us need worry unless we, or our families were connected in anyway to
the animal testing businsses or motoring organizations.I now understand why my parcel from the States has been so delayed,I`m sure this is effecting post everywhere.

The FBI is releasing information on how to spot a suspicious package. Like, for example, if a suspicious man offers you a package to hold, you're in danger. But if a suspicious man offers to hold your package, you're in Hollywood.
