Celebrity Big Brother 2016: Summer series set to be the longest EVER

The current Celebrity Big Brother 2016 summer series is on course to be the longest ever.

A total set of 15 housemates entered the house last night and could be in there until September.

Chatting on their first night, some of the celebs let slip that their contracts are for up to 35 days.

If the show does last that long then it'd be the longest EVER Celebrity Big Brother series: Three days more than the previous record set in January and 6 days longer than the next longest summer run.

However the potentially lengthy CBB follows the shortest EVER Big Brother which ended after just 50 days.

Host Emma Willis denied ahead of the final on Tuesday that it had been cut short.

She said: Let's clear this up, loads of people on social media are saying 'Oh my God, they're cutting the series short.'

"We have NOT cut the series short! The series was never meant to be any longer than this, this is what it was scheduled for.

"That's that cleared up, this is how long we were meant to be on air."

Whether or not Celebrity Big Brother does last for the full 35 days - which would mean a final on September 1 - remains to be seen.

For now, the first highlights air tonight at 9PM on Channel 5.

Not CBB only 15 days shorter than BB

Lostie! 29-07-2016 05:57 PM

As long as it takes us to late August at least (which it's bound to tbh), I'm happy.

Firewire 29-07-2016 05:59 PM

It'll be 29 days bookmark me

Far too long. CBB should last no longer than 27 days.

Glenn-C 29-07-2016 06:04 PM

Civ series getting shorter
Celeb series getting longer.

How long until CBB is longer than BB?

But she said 4 weeks the other night

Not this mess again

They should go back to 23 days.

Every series they've extended in the past two years has always gotten dull in the second half/last week and ended up lasting a good week than it longer should have.

The only series that worked well with 4 weeks were CBB13 and CBB16.

Mess at CBB being 2 weeks less than normal BB

lewis111 29-07-2016 10:28 PM

If it is 35 days these HMs will last TWO days less as official housemates than finalists Hughie and Jayne

CBB should be 4 weeks and BB should be 10 weeks imo. Every series should be the same length preferably I like consistency.

TomC 29-07-2016 10:46 PM

I might as well stop watching now if it's as long as that

Daniel-X 29-07-2016 11:10 PM

I don't mind it being 35 days at all, it takes us up to the last day of August (?) which is actually a lot earlier than the last two series have finished.

At this rate if CBB18 does last 35 days, ending on 1 September it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if CBB19 runs for 42-50 days from around 3rd January and we end up with yet another 50 days (or less) run for BB18 next "Summer".

This :( I get such a headache at the fact C5 BBUK has been 64, 70, 68, 72, 66 and 50 days ... There's no consistency :'(

Emma said 4 weeks on launch.

I'm assuming a Friday 26th August FINAL. That would make it 29 days (4 weeks 1 Day) and ONE DAY before I go on holiday, so PLEASE let it end by then as it will be the last episode I watch before holiday as I leave on the afternoon of the 27th.
