How can a website ban a forum member for an 'inappropriate thread' and...

...Still keep the alleged inappropriate thread up and active after the member's ban.:joker:

And other members can post on it. :p

Just wonder where the logic is there.

Thanks for your help. :)

PS. NOT this forum!!

Ellen 31-07-2016 12:30 PM

Maybe someone doesnt like the member who was banned.

Could have been an excuse saying it was inappropriate just to ban the member, childish if true.
Or it could be they have forgot about it.

Are they leaving it up to show why the member was banned?

Not that I think that's a good idea.

For the pure mad banter

Well the member is me. I was banned for a month for an inappropriate thread about Marnie from CBB.

They banned me for a month but kept the 'offending' thread up. :p :D

I was banned yesterday. When I went to the website, it denied me access to the forum. It said, go to your email we have sent you the reason why we have banned you.

It said it was an 'inappropriate choice of words', in a thread relating to Marnie and from CBB.

But they have kept the offending thread up, which doesn't make sense.:joker: You would have thought they'd delete it.

I only found the thread was still up, not locked with loads of new replies. I found this out by accessing DS through a proxy server.

Never mind!:joker:

Digital Sky is hammering more nails in their coffin than a nail gun. I wouldn't take it personally.

Josy 31-07-2016 04:23 PM

Are you sure it was the thread that was offensive and not just part of what you posted?

They are Non Democratic on there.

I did a BBC thread on this site - no problem

and on Digital Display - they are Pro BBC
no one can say words that attack them.
Padlocked and Warned etc.

No. If anyone break the rules that they agreed to follow when they joined the forum then they're gonna get infractions and bans, doesn't matter who they are.

Nobody forces anyone to break the rules, it's a choice and if anyone chooses to break the rules then they'll get appropriately punished for it.

We know the rules but it's the subject matter that's looked upon differently imho,
Anyways I'm not looking for a ban, it's just my opinion so let's leave it there.

bots 31-07-2016 06:09 PM

it could have been a ban related to a persistence issue with the poster, that in a thread in itself doesn't merit its deletion

Nope, it doesn't matter what the subject matter is. Everything gets looked at and modded in the same way.
