Help and tutorial topic for Gimp.

I just downloaded the latest version of GIMP and it is really confusing and hard to use.

GIMP's confusing at first but as you use it, it becomes simple.

I used it for about a year before I got photoshop so I can kinda help.

I used to be an avid photoshop user. But I know use GIMP and I find it much more manipulatable and easier to use now

I really have no idea how to use GIMP, I downloaded last night.

GIMP ?

Hey, does anyone know how to get rid of white backgrounds on pictures? I tried typing it in on google but it just came back with photoshop tutorials. I read something about tracing around a picture? Which I tried but I couldn't do well. Is there any simple way to do it? Any help would be much appreciated.

Can anyone tell me how to make a banner from scratch, on GIMP?
