Baseball and surfing among five sports added to Tokyo 2020 Olympics
 

On the eve of an Olympics riven with fear over the future of the Games, organisers have added a further five sports to the programme for Tokyo 2020 in the hope of increasing its appeal to younger audiences.

Following decades where the status quo was roughly maintained until the reintroduction of golf and rugby sevens for Rio, a further five sports will be added to the programme for the next Olympics.

The international federations behind surfing, karate, baseball/softball, sport climbing and skateboarding were celebrating after the International Olympic Committee approved the addition of all five to the programme for the Tokyo Games.

Baseball is cute

It genuinely angers me that squash is continually overlooked. It's great at the Commonwealths

On a personal level I hope snooker makes it in one day, if golf can then it should

Surfing is cute but we have so many sailing events and half of them are just dirge fests to watch.

Baseball/Softball. Why? It didn't get interest before and it won't now.

Karate. Okay, we have Judo and Taekwondo, makes sense.

Climbing. I don't get the concept it's in, but it could be a fun watch.

Skateboarding. Probably wouldn't enjoy it bc I know little about it so they could do a backflip and fall off and I wouldn't know if it's any good.

Squash has been robbed.

Karate is Japan's national sport so no surprises that was added

Surfing is pretty huge worldwide gets millions of viewers so that's a good pick financially have said the same for Baseball but if the MLB players aren't participating then to me their isn't really much point

Skateboarding just seems like an event that belongs on the X Games and not the Olympics but not totally against it and Sports Climbing over Squash does sound bizzare now
