I want to watch BBUS

I've been thinking over the past few days that I'd like to check out BBUS. I've seen some of BBCan and I thought it was great and whilst I'm aware the US show is inferior the Canadian show, I'd still like to give it a go as I'm kinda bored with BBUK and the latest CBB.

I've heard BB6, BB10 and BB11 are the best seasons of BBUS, but I'd like to leave those off till later, especially BB6 as I don't want to start with a dated season. Watching in order is out of the question too as I don't think I could start with a season which aired 15 years ago.

I was wondering what the best recent season of BBUS was so I could check that out first and get a good overview of what the show is like today? Is the current series BB18 any good? I've heard BB16 is horrific on here and as gripping as BB15 looks (for all the wrong reasons obviously), I don't want to start with a series as heavy as BB15.

BB13 is meant to be the best recent series, but it includes six returnees so idk if you'd want to watch it.

Pete. 06-08-2016 02:37 PM

BB15/17 are the best all-newbies seasons, even though BB13 are better than both

Lostie! 06-08-2016 02:38 PM

Yeah BB13 was the last one that I was motivated to watch to the end. My first season that got me into the show was BB11 but you want to save that for later.

Jason. 06-08-2016 02:42 PM

Does BB17 have any returnees?

No, and it's a really great season so I'd recommend it to start with.

Was BB17 the one with Aubrey?

Thanks. I might start with that one then. It only aired last year too so that's good.

Is BB18 any good?

Braden 06-08-2016 02:46 PM

Brave

No, go ahead. I personally like to start from the very begining and work my way through when it comes to these sort of things. The latest seasons have almost turned into some kind of DIsney/Nickelodeon-type of gameshow, so they're somewhat ridiculous to watch without live feed.

I've only seen 5 episodes but the general consensus is no

Ew bb15 was trash

Jack_ 06-08-2016 02:50 PM

BB18 is arguably worse than 16 and we're only half way through, it's atrocious

17 was amazing but it's let down by the presence of the universally hated 'fan favourite' Battle of the Block, although it ends after five weeks so it's not too bad. I also think 15 for all its controversy is a good recent season, and if nothing else it is gripping and you find yourself actively rooting against people which in some kind of sadistic way is enjoyable

Go for one of them

16-18 are definitely more Channel 5-esque in production, which is possibly down to them being in HD, but despite this 17 is solid (but the Takeover twist is a mess at the start)

BBUS17 serving BBUK17?

Jack_ 06-08-2016 03:03 PM

Battle of the Block is a season ruining twist which basically entails two HoH's being crowned each week, they both nominate two HGs, a competition between the two sets of nominees then takes place and the winners free themselves from the block, gain immunity for the week and in the process dethrone the HoH that nominated them - meaning they could potentially be nominated post-Veto. The rest of the week plays out as normal

It first appeared in BB16 and lasted way beyond jury when everyone thought it would finish then, everyone thought there'd be a new twist for BB17 but on the premiere night Julie declares that the 'fan favourite twist' (despite the fact everyone hates it) is returning, angering 99% of the viewers

Thankfully it doesn't last as long but it still brought with it the end of the key wheel for nominations (which last appeared in BB15) and was an iconic part of every BBUS season since BB2. But that's a minor point and something only diehards care about

But yeah it sucks

Braden 06-08-2016 03:05 PM

The episodes can also be edited to oblivion. Sometimes what you see is presented so differently to how it happened, which is why live feed is quite important to follow at the time of watching. The DR's are gravely scripted in such a blatant way, what you hear from the houseguests and how they come across is different to how you would perceive them on the feeds.

Natalie. 06-08-2016 03:06 PM

I'd start with bb17 then

No it wasn't it was gripping both inside and outside the house & this started right until the end

The MVP twist saves it though because the pre-jurors were perfect

It was full of bullying and racism, the cast was awful because you're only rooting for like 3 people because the rest are bigots or boring and once they are gone then you have no one to root for because they are tragically awful, it had drama but most of it was bullying which is not good to watch.

BBUK15 tea ^

Jason. 06-08-2016 03:21 PM

Anyway I'm going to watch BB17. Thanks for the help everyone.
