Well?...

The exact definition of narcissism is an excessive love or admiration for oneself.

... As it is impossible to have an excessive love or admiration for me, I feel that it is impossible for me to be considered narcissistic.

Nope..

'If you're looking for a narcissist, just ask.

That’s according to a new video produced by New York Magazine’s The Science of Us, based on research last year that suggested you only need one question to find out which of your friends is really, really into themselves.

Just ask them upfront: "To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement: I am a narcissist."

Apparently this question relies on the fact that a true narcissist will be unlikely to think of their narcissism as a bad thing.

I don't think I'm one either, it must be pretty liberating to be one though, fancy only having yourself to worry about...lucky basts :/

I'd never be something as uncomplimentary-sounding as a narcissist. I'm too good for that. :idc:

It's not as simple as that really, narcissists don't necessarily lack empathy for others... You can empathise with others whilst still admiring yourself and even when feeling entirely superior (e.g. People empathise with animals, worry about their pets, whilst still feeling like a superior being).

Even people with narcissistic personality disorder (which is the more extreme version of plain narcissism) don't necessarily have ZERO empathy... Though it may be seriously lacking.

Also, narcissists don't necessarily feel superior to everyone in every way. My mother in law for example I'm convinced is a serious narcissist, however she thinks that she is 100% the "average person". Where her narcissism kicks in there is that she considers being normal / average to BE the superior way to exist. Too stupid? That's bad. Too clever for her? That's bad too. Ugly? Bad. Especially good looking? Bad! Poor is bad, rich is bad... The best way to be, is just like her, "in the middle", not having "ideas above your station" etc (she will laugh and sneer at ambition).

Takes all forms really.
