James' Nomination: -James fancies or cares too much for Aubrey-

Just here speculating on a theory I have with James nominating Aubrey.

James is a middle aged grown man and is having a closer relationship with Aubrey than with most others in the house. It can't be easy on James for striking a friendship with such a beautiful girl.

My guess is that he either fancies her or that perhaps she's filling a daughter figure role in his life and by nominating her, he's needing to mentally and emotionally push her away. Call him a game player or a snake, but he has a wife who I'm sure he loves very much (and to my belief, he's never had a daughter), so I doubt he'll ever talk about his real reasons for nominating her.

He nominated Aubrey not because he doesn't care for her, but possibly because he's afraid he cares too much. He doesn't want to get any closer to Aubrey and is afraid how that would look to the public eye and to his wife.

Thoughts?

It's possible, she seems to have some sort of allure for the older gents. I've not seen any nominations yet (tend to be 2 or 3 days behind due to work) but in theory it's definitely a possible reason for a nomination choice... We've certainly seen it happen in the past.

Could be, but I think he's just a snake, you don't put one of the only friends you've got up for nomination

I don't get any vibe off him that he fancies her, I think his nomination was as he said because he doesn't want to be told what to do by someone who could be his daughter. We saw Aubrey dictating to the group who to nominate, she probably does it all the time, why do we have to bring everything down to "fancying" I think James just wanted to show the public he has his own mind and follows his own path in there.

Yeah, I think that has got something to do with it. James was blushing like a schoolboy when his nomination clip was played back.

And why not? She's smart, beautiful, and not ridiculously young. She's said she likes him often enough. The thought 'What if?' must have crossed his mind. So he probably did the right thing, even though he'll never explain it to anyone on CBB.

Not all men are swayed by a pair of T&A ,James nominated her for the reasons he stated or were you not listening ? most of them where embarrassed about their noms being disclosed, don't judge him by your standards.

He was blushing because of the reveal and people reactions to it, imo nothing to do with fancying her, it's not a primary school playground :idc:

Im sorry but I think it is more likely that James cannot deal with vacuous yanks and although she thinks she is doing him a favour by talking to him, I supsect he wishes she would bugger off and leave him alone

Though I like Aubrey and the way she is prepared to say that she wants to play the game, its refreshing

It seemed clear to me that James' stated reasons for nominating Aubrey were not what was really on his mind. And why would you assume it's about T&A? Couldn't James be trying to protect himself from a more spiritual connection?

James Whale or 'that fat bastard' as he was known throughout his radio career, is a well known asshat. He's mates with Biggins! and cares less for people's feelings than Bear, although he is much thinner skinned than Bear. Why people keep voting to keep Whale is just another voting mystery - it wouldn't surprise me if the old fart won.

 and why do you assume that the reason must be because he fancies her for some reason:shrug: he's a happily married man who has had a long and successful career he will not take kindly to some stranger telling him who he should and should not vote for.why are you insistant it's something more?

He's coming across as a better human being than his media profile would have suggested. Admittedly, that's not saying much, but it is something.

I'm not insistent; I really don't care. I just think that whatever grievances James might have had about being told who to nominate melted away when Aubrey explained to him, in quite a moving speech, about how much she didn't want him to leave. I'm pretty sure he wasn't expecting that. As noted above, James Whale has lived a hard, cold life, basically just insulting anyone who phones up his show; May to December flutterings of the heart would be absolutely the last thing he'd want.
