Aubrey and Renee: so weak...

Have the last couple of weeks just been empty posturing?

One whiff of vague pleasantness from Bear, now that it suits him and he has no allies in the house, and their heads are turned. Only Frankie seems not to have amnesia about all that's gone before.

This is a shame as I thought they were stronger characters. If it is just strategy, it's a flawed one as I don't think it will endear them to the viewers.

(Anyone whose response to this is that I'm being sexist by criticising female housemates should consider the fact that we know just about all the blokes in the house are knobheads, including the lazily two-faced James. I also think Sam is getting a lot of undeserved sh!t. Why shouldn't she kick off a bit after being nominated? She's stood up for herself in the past without wanting to stir up trouble, which to me makes her a decent HM.)

I didn't watch last night's episode - was everyone being nice to Bear?

Absorption 18-08-2016 09:47 AM

Watch a repeat if you can. There was a love-in with Aubrey, Renee and Bear in the smoking area (ie, he decided for once not to be a complete tw@t to them and they fell at his feet), followed by Renee, Aubrey and Frankie in the diary room, where the two ladies announced it would be boring without him and they didn't want a boring last week, a point they reiterated a few times.

(So it's fun as long as you're not the target of his 'wit', it seems. This coming less than a day after they'd applauded Marnie for now "getting" what they'd been telling her about Bear all along. Oh, the fickle world of the BB house...)

Frankie looked incredulous at this change! I'm not sure he's convinced and probably now has doubts about his two BFFs...

I totally agree with you. This is the power of the bully....be vile to them then when you have pushed them to the limit start being nice to them then they are putty in your hands.
Frankie went up in my opinion there...he hasn't fallen for it.

They fancy Bear and don't like that they can't have him. When he shows them some positivity they go all weak at the knees and gooey in the knickers.

smudgie 18-08-2016 10:49 AM

They are all playing the game.
Strategy etc, both Renee and Bear were cheered on eviction night so they all want to cosy up to each other.
Really disappointed in Renee, stabbing Sam in the back when Sam has been nothing but friendly with her.

Babayaro. 18-08-2016 10:53 AM

It was rather disappointing to see. I expected it from Aubrey as there's been something very off about her since day 1, but i'm a little surprised at Renee though. I thought she was better than that.

Cherie 18-08-2016 10:58 AM

I loved Frankie piping up that he is still a bully :joker:

reece(: 18-08-2016 10:59 AM

At this point they know he's there for the long haul and are stuck with him, so why make it all misery for themselves?

For me, I choked on my tea when Sam ranted to Renee in the store cupboard that she's the only woman who has stood up to him. Renee replied 'now you know how it feels. That was telling. Sam may voice things in the diary room but other than that it's been the occasional 'come on, play fair' or 'be a man' said in a lacklustre manner. Observing Renee on the sofa, when she muttered 'I wish people would keep emotions out of this' I actually feel she was disappointed in Sam's ott nom reactions. She threw some looks her way when she put that show on. Maybe she is actually disappointed in Sam? It came across as weak and the comment in the storeroom must have been noted. Just a thought.

It would be nice to think so, up until the noms I really liked Renee.
Sam did over react to being nommed, but Renee had already chosen her as one of her noms so that couldn't be a reason to nom her:shrug:
All game playing I suppose, but plenty of others to nominate before someone that had been nothing but friendly to you.
If nothing else it will test the waters for them all to of be up at some point.

power2thepeople 18-08-2016 11:24 AM

Didn't Renee nom James and Ricky? I'm sure she nommed 2 males? I may stand corrected?

I thought it was Sam and Ricky.
If I am mistaken then she is forgiven and goes back up to my fourth fav.

power2thepeople 18-08-2016 11:30 AM

Just checked. Def James and Ricky. I think Renee def disliked Sam's reaction. Maybe she thought she could handle herself better.

Loved that bit, too, but neither Aubrey nor Renee batted an eyelid about it! They're playing the game.

Thanks power2thepeople.
Right, all is back to normal then, she is back up to 4th fav again.
I am really finding it hard to keep any interest going this series, last night was my first one to watch after missing 3 nights.

Kazanne 18-08-2016 11:42 AM

I was a tad disappointed at how they seem to forgive him now,I wanted renee in particular to be that strong woman she seemed to be,i always get let down by these 'strong' American women,Tiffany was the same, they never REALLY deliver their personalities,I like Renee to,but that disappointed me when she said Bear should stay in,thank God for Frankie who was having none of that wool pulled over his eyes, liking Frankie, more and more

:clap1:

This. IMHO Aubrey fancied Bear from start but was too loved up with Pauly D to bother with Bear. Spit gate brought them closer and she has been getting closer to him ever since. She's charmed by him despite his twattish conduct, he makes her laugh and her boyfriend is increasingly becoming a distant memory. Renee fancied Bear from day one too and didn't conceal this. Bears dominant and in Renee world that's an attractive male character trait, whereas she can't stand Ricky's wimpy snide comments behind people's backs.

Another so called strong woman who succumbed to Bears dominance was Saira. Initially she tried to challenge him but ultimately he wore her down and she became a groupie. Grrrrrrrrr.

Don't really get why some people seem to be so 'disappointed' that everyone appears to no longer hate Bear. Much like when Renee stopped blanking him there was hell on and 'omgz shes not as strong as we thought' and such. Its actually much more likely that they see more than the 45 mins we see per day and when he is not in cameragrabbing attention mode he is actually...quite likeable? Hell even sometimes when he is in wanker mode he comes across ok  It is also entirely possible that they have just got used to his antics also and are using a 'kill him with kindness' type response...it was always their reactions that gave him the attention he craved..he seems to have chilled a lot since everyone else stopped kicking off.

NO idea why it has to be he has ground them down, bullied them into submission and such  I get some do not like him, but there has to be redeeming qualities somewhere in there...

throwing food on the floor makes him a bully?laughing at someone jokes makes him a bully? hes not a bully

I saw aubrey on US apprentice, and she is the sort of woman who does not like the truth to be told to her face, her mind is stuck with the high school mean girls way of thinking, she has deep insecure issues with males, everytime she picks a fight with a guy, she claims that this guy hates women, aubrey does not take being rejected very well by guys,

When Sam said that I did want to ask her which planet she'd been on for the last few weeks!

I never said throwing food on the floor makes a bully?.....laughing at someone's jokes?...whos jokes?...who's laughing?....you post doesn't make sense.
However anybody who gets in people's faces...laughs in their faces...prods them...intimidates them to the point of tears and frustration and then doesn't even apologise IS A BULLY!!...

omgwtf 18-08-2016 05:48 PM

I feel like people are saying they like Bear because they know he's got a following outside the house and they don't want to alienate themselves.

it was like a slap in the face to renee: how often has she lambasted bear? loads of times. was never a fan of sam's - didn't hate her but didn't rate her at all - and what with her touchiness about the page 3 comments, and mostly walking AWAY from bear's ugliness when maybe others would have benefted from her piping up, once again she shows it's all about sam.filled with the most ridiculous egos.

indeed - frankie's become my favourite which is something i never expected.

i get ricky's reticence, and like his personality, but because he chooses not to speak out more (and i get it, i really do) there's something lacking there for me. i like that frankie speaks up, even if it's not as often as bear needs to hear... he never listens anyway.

really really bore with this series now, tbh. most the people are vile and if i hear any more of boor's dreadfully scripted-for-cam clichés, the awful sucky squelchy sounds of close-ups of kissing, and the women starting to fawn over bear then i'm done with it.

really, apart from frankie at the moment (and despite the fact i like ricky, lots, but he's not being winner material imo), this whole series is a washout for my tastes as a viewer. and now they're sticking in another geordie shaw bird? get me out of here.
