Channel 5 killing its golden goose.....the end for BB

The is an increasingly frequent occurence of focusing a whole series around one almighty horror to the detriment of the show. Its like BB's go to trick now, even though it has produced most of the shows worst series since the move to C5.

First we had Speidi, which ruined CBB11 as the rest of the cast bar Rylan were reduced to hollow set pieces.
Then we had BB15, which was dominated by emotional terrorist Helen thanks to her pass to the final. A thoroughly miserable series thanks to her when she really should've been evicted a few weeks in.
Then we were subjected to CBB15 and the Perez show. With the equally horrific Katie Hopkins as his main adversary it was a lose / lost situation.
If that wasn't bad enough, we were then tortured with BB16. After lulling us into a false sense of security for two weeks in the hopes we'd get a normal series they then stuck in the odious Marc and we had to watch this neverending cycle of him poking and prodding and winding his housemates up. Made even better by the return on Helen.
Now just when you think that era of the show has finally been put behind us, here we are again with the Bear show. Another vile little cretin designed to make all his other housemates absolutely miserable and have the whole show revolve around him.

Whats even worse is that the public have become so used to this that an ever-growing portion of the audience seems to be championing these characters now. Under the pretence that they're making the show and everyone else is boring. But BB's strengths have always lied in the series which have been an ensemble effort rather than shuting over half a cast full of potentially interesting characters into the background so we can watch some specimen throw eggs or oil on the floor. Or get ridden by some plastic bimbo.

I am more and more relieved every time by luck we get a fleeting moment of escape from this poisonous new formula and they actually manage to pull a good series out of the bag. A series with a whole host of interesting characters sharing the limelight and no one suffocating the show with their desperate antics. CBB17 and BB17 were a welcome reprieve.

CBB17 was the same. It was practically centered around just Stephanie and Jeremy and their obnoxious showmance. Heck they even got all the press attention post-series.

You have summed that up brilliantly ...:clap1::clap1::clap1:

Every years there is a thread saying that BB is finished.

Daniel. 18-08-2016 01:55 PM

I agree, Helen was the start of it and it's continued since, with the exception of CBB14, CBB16 and BB17

CBB won't finish as long as people who don't like it continue to watch it and talk about it.

Pretty much this

Also the likes of love island, geordie shore and stuff continue to be relatively popular and BB appears to be trying to go along that route..for all us 'oldies' who get sick of endless showmances and such, there is an eager teen tuning in to see a penis and some heavy petting.

I know its hard to do, but some really need to just accept that BB as we know it is changing. It has been for ages, even some of the later series on c4 were bad for this.

I liked Speidi and Perez :shame: But I agree that they shouldn't focus too much on one housemate.

I think that BB17 could have suffered a similar fate had the public not evicted Marco and Natalie, so I wouldn't even say that the producers/editors have got better with this sort of thing recently, it's just that we managed to stop them last time... it's a good argument for VTE anyway (and I've usually been an advocate of VTS in the past).

It wint finish, not while the Jeremy Kyle viewers keep on voting

No, Speidi was the start of it.

Heidi and Spencer were the only reason to watch CBB11. Helen was the only reason to watch BB15. Katie Hopkins was fantastic.

If you don't like it maybe you should be in charge of casting...

I certainly hope not, but if CBB goes the way of the housemates actual careers and dies itself then we must protect our national treasure - Emma Willis. As a part of this deal she will agree to have Heavy D's babies.

Such a good post. And all of it down to weak, unintelligent Production Teams...:fist:
