EPL in huge decline

I have come to the conclusion that the EPL is in huge decline, this decline started in the middle of the 2000s, you have players who get far far too much money, and they are priced at a really over the top level, the lack of home born players has affected the quality of this league, and why have england played so bad in the last 12 years, we import players who lack the real experience and playing level for this league, and an english born player who nets in 25 goals a season, will have a huge high price put on him for a big club in spain, when guys like rooney who get over 300.000 a week and can't even score near 20 goals a season, and can't be dropped for england, it tells how bad the home born quality we have, rooney should of been dropped by england 6 years ago, after that crap he played in the last world cup.

The younger players in the league aren't given the chance to play competitive football think it's time that the FA looked at including Premiership under 21 teams in the EFL trophy because a lot of them are just rotting in the under 21 league system at least in the EFL trophy they would have have that bit more exposure and have the chance to play for a senior trophy seems to be working well for Scotland with the under 20s Spfl sides playing in that this season

Rooney was one of the better players in the squad in France, though. And every time someone's argued for a player to be chosen 'on form, not fame' they've largely underperformed nationally - Drinkwater, Kane, Dier all being strong recent examples. I'd argue now that Roy's gone we could have a chance at performing internationally with someone with even a basic semblance of tactical awareness but I'm not sure Sam will be any better.

As for the league itself, it hasn't got the benefit of being able to have avoided tax for the past ten years like La Liga has which is why they've attracted the big names - but in return watching Spanish league games is largely boring. The lack of quality below 5th in their table is staggering. So whilst we're not the best teams in the world at the moment - although we made the Europa final, and CL semis last year - we're certainly the most entertaining and stacked league.

I can't really agree there has been any real decline in the EPL when a club has just paid a world record fee for a player.

You want to look at what's happened up here in Scotland to see a big decline, in the last 12 or so years - and Scotland haven't qualified for a tournament since 1998.

Drinkwater played well when given a chance, as did Dier.

Tbh the only player that deserves their spot in the England team that played regularly in the Euros is Lallana, everybody else should have to fight for their places.
