Celebrity Big Brother Ratings Ratings Plummet

Celebrity Big Brother’s viewing figures have plummeted ever since the show’s carnal couples have been separated.

Following Lewis Bloor and James Whale’s evictions on Friday night (Aug 19), ratings have reportedly dropped to notoriously low levels.

In its poorest return of the series, Saturday night’s (Aug 20) episode managed to draw in 850,000 fans compared to an average of 1.4 million, according to Channel 5 statistics.

While some viewers turned to Ofcom in response to the reality programme’s sexual scenes and naked antics, others couldn’t turn the TV off as the steamy shenanigans typically made headlines on a weekly basis.

Lewis and Marnie Simpson, who still remains in the house, seemingly helped to rake in viewers with their jaw-dropping behaviour, as did shameless Chloe Khan, who cavorted with Stephen Bear before her eviction from the house.

“It’s a terrible start to the week,” a source told the Daily Star. “The house is lacking in drama and things aren’t looking good for viewing figures. Lewis and Marnie were providing all the sex appeal and now the spark is firmly out.”

This comes after Lewis, 26, became the fifth housemate to be evicted from the Elstree bungalow on Friday night.

Discussing his relationship with the Geordie Shore lass, he told CBB host Emma Willis: “I’m gutted to leave her [Marnie]. The best thing about this experience is meeting her.

“I feel like I’ve done six months with her. She made me feel like a kid. It’s hard to be intimate in there. I feel like she’s my best friend and I fancy her as well.”

Saturday shows don't get many viewers, and in other news, water is still wet

Glenn-C 22-08-2016 04:05 PM

Good. The fact that this is beating CBB16 offends me

bots 22-08-2016 04:07 PM

more likely that most viewers switched off when the last decent house mate (james) left

MB. 22-08-2016 04:07 PM

If most viewers wanted James to stay that much, they'd have voted for him

not when he made it clear he wanted to go

They built a show around a spoilt child and now its all gone flat and terribly boring. Its now a house full of radar divers and a petulant child. They need to get rid of dullards instead of letting the public vote interesting characters out. This production team are clueless when it comes to tasks, noms and penalties to hm's.

This series deserves to flop :clap2:

IMO it was nothing to do with the couples....Marnie and Lewis were boring. People were more attracted by the divide...the atrocious behaviour of 3-4 young immature people who showed outrageous behaviour to wind up the others.
People were fascinated to watch the extreme they went to and however unacceptable it made it a must watch.
Bear is nothing on his own...the nastiness has subsided because he has no one to show off to..no mates to back him up and always be there for him no matter how far he goes.
It's died a death...

Chloe, Lewis and Marnie definitely didn't rake the viewers

Jason. 22-08-2016 04:32 PM

I hope they plummet even further :)

People are over the Bear show, I was at V Fest this weekend and literally just looked quickly on here on Saturday night to see what happened.

I think this is the first year I don't even care anymore  I won't even bother watching the 2 highlights I missed most likely

Withano 22-08-2016 05:05 PM

Its not a good series, I think James leaving instead Bear was the last straw for most people. The 3 evictions before him saw 3 members of the ratpack be eliminated and not getting a 4 for 4 made optimism for a good series plummet, this was reflected in the ratings.

Close thread. Mystery solved. Debunked it.

Bound to happen with only one entertaining housemate left. We're left with a house full of bores

This is probably right, I doubt it has anything to do with the "sex appeal", more that most of them have now gotten used to Bear and know how to handle him and so he had turned to winding up Heavy and Lewis to cause drama. With both of them gone, and Bear tbh mostly getting on OK with the people who are left as far as I can see, it's really just on a slow wind down to the final.

Personally that's not something I mind at all - classic BB was very much like that... The last week or so when only a few were left, and they all knew each other inside out, and it was just people sort of chilling / doing tasks and waiting for the final. I always quite enjoyed that part of the show. But I can appreciate that it's boring for some and people who are in it for the explosions alone might tune out at that point.

Vicky. 22-08-2016 06:34 PM

Bad timing eh...now the producers will have it on their minds even more that we all want to see sex and stuff. Great, more showmances coming our way :(

Glenn-C 22-08-2016 06:37 PM

We need more showmances! Sex! Arguments! More DR conversations played into the house! More tweets! More home truths! More outside interference! foul food and GUUUUNNNNGGGEEEE!!

What's BB without these?

You hit the nail on the head.

All the best housemates have gone. Now we're left with the dead wood.

Seriously I am struggling watching these last few remaining HLs shows.

The people left in it, none of them apart from Bear deserve to be there never mind win the show.

Vicky. 22-08-2016 06:49 PM

If it was because of james, more people would have voted for him surely? Unless they got complacent with him topping the votes last time. But if thats what happened, it was stupid. He only topped the votes as he was the only one up that week who wasn't in Bears 'group'

I only watch for Bear and Renee now tbh.

susie q 22-08-2016 07:15 PM

For once I will be glad when its over. Only watching out of habit now. Like the housemates have got used to Bear, and am bored with him not doing anything different other than the man baby act. Im even going out on friday evening, so will miss most of the final. Hope January CBB better than this. Hopefully there wont be any more reality stars.

y.winter 22-08-2016 07:22 PM

Not Lewis and not James brought interest to the last episodes. If they were so crucial for the viewers, they would've stayed.
Simple as that.

It's more believable than Lewis who got less votes to be saved than James.
