How would you grade the discussion potential this series?

Just want to take a small poll.

For myself, I followed the series to keep up with discussion here, but because the series has been so unbalanced, most of my posts would've been about Bear... where is the depth to that conversation? It's hard to comment really when the central dynamic centers around one HM. Having discussions solely on the premise of Bear, love him or hate him, is like listening to a broken record.

It's weird getting to the end, having some good housemates, but then feeling like we hardly even know any of them?

Another thought...
I think it is very detrimental to the series for them to keep the developments so limited to one HM. Yes, the vitriol and commentary will be much stronger, but you need a broad base of people to popularize the show and to build a stronger following on social media--which is where the ratings are at in my opinion.

This show doesn't seem to have as strong social media presence like it should. I compare it to shows like the Bachelor/Bachelorette in the US... that show is mad popular through social media and tabloids. Everyone from young, to middle aged, to grandmothers talk about the Bachelor. The formula is so stale and yet it still gets mad ratings.

Daffodil 25-08-2016 09:12 PM

Yes this series has been dominated by Bear for all the wrong reasons and as such it has been spoilt.

Maru 25-08-2016 09:23 PM

Probably should've kept it to 5 options opps

caprimint 25-08-2016 10:47 PM

I'd give it a 10 on Bear's part - people can't get enough of discussing him. Iconic housemate.

MrWong 25-08-2016 10:54 PM

Not much potential for discussion imo.

The highlights just seemed very repetitive. Same ****, different day

My least discussed series ever.

reece(: 25-08-2016 10:56 PM

Probably the worst ever?

you know ther's so little to discuss when the only threads are Vanessa's updates on what Bear is eating/looking at etc and no-one else really cares to make any.

Withano 26-08-2016 12:23 AM

Most of the discussion has been about producers which isnt good. Like this warning was justified, this warning was not justified, i cant believe they wasnt warned for this, theyve changed the rules RE noms again, theyre useless..

As far as discussions where housemates and only housemates were concerned? Pisspoor.

Ian Coke 26-08-2016 01:12 AM

Well, I quite enjoy speculating about housemates' sexual and/or psychological problems, so this series has been pretty good, in that respect. It's delivered. You could write a three act tragedy about Bear or Heavy D.

Ness supporting someone other than an attractive guy next series to make the forum shook?

Perhaps the real story of this series of CBB is how much Vanessa hearts Bear, in spite of all the warning signs?

argh! meta-analysis...mind-blown...:conf:

Ammi 26-08-2016 06:28 AM

..I always think that the vein of the BB house, reflects the forum/discussions as well, like an extension of it..?...and it's been a very negative house...so many threads/discussions in the vein of 'which bad behaviour is the worse/the better', with very little balance of light hearted so not a great discussion series...no extreme ever is and becomes equally tedious...'too much drama/conflict etc'..or 'too much everyday and non drama'....

bears own supporters don't even dispute the fact that he is a knob head, so its probably the only time the forum has ever been in complete agreement. Given that he has been the complete focus of the show, what more can really be said that adds anything substantial to the debate

Too true. Some people on this forum really love Bear, which they have their reasons, so I feel awkward to try to get in their head and tell them who to vote for  Except that's most of what the discussions have been. I feel like we were all voting or following people to take down one single HM (or to herald them) and that didn't make for a good series... it makes for great twitter outbursts and hitting more hate/like buttons on FB, but not for in-depth discussion.... I can share my opinion, but tbf when it's as basic as it comes down to one HM, it's very hard to become invested. Ironically, most of the forum felt very unified this series in one respect or another and that's very bad for discussion imo...

Spoiler:

So now that he has won, are we now the minority? I don't know if the edit can be entirely blamed. I think some of us are watching must be watching a different show and have different reasons for staying tuned in. Though this forum obviously skews one way, Bear won... so obviously there's a section of the viewing population that skews another (unless it's completely and utterly rigged)

Shows like the Bachelor have only gained a stronger following whereas C5 has over-tweaked BB, even going as far to rig the vote (with Bear's continuous warning of warnings).

My premise for creating this thread...deeper discussions is what increases and builds a stronger base, i.e. leads to a bigger budget, better shows, more ratings. A bigger badder BB would make everyone happy. I was curious where everyone sat in terms of how discussable they felt the series has been for them. It's not really about whose favorite HM is who and meant to slight Bear's fans. What's interesting to you and I may not be someone elses cup of tea, but there are plenty of shows that aren't much deeper than a puddle intellectually speaking still that inspire a following and are discussed thoroughly by that fanbase...

I don't like the Kardashians, but plenty of people LOVE THEM and watch the show in the US and it has a huge following in the media. What the biggest BB fans and Kardashians have in common are that they like to see how each of their favorite "characters" on the shows trend... it's the social experiment aspect of having access to media/twitter, etc I guess.

Feel free to add more to your response.

So judging by your (lack thereof) responses, you would also rate it as a 1?

Edit: Sorry, missed the other...

I heard that Vanessa is the forum sight-seer of lates in determining the winner... Too bad gambling isn't really legal here

In my OP I put my personal musings as to why I rated the series low on the discussion meter, but this thread isn't really about who you and I chose to hate/vote for. I included more in-depth my reasoning in the last post. Basically I want to compare this show's following to other shows and gauge it here at TiBB...
