In case I disappear (Part II)
On Monday I acquired a new laptop
My sister suggested a Toshiba with a Pentium Dual core which I got from John Lewis of all places for £499 The lap top will be initiated on Saturday afternoon, although that date may be shifted to Friday afternoon, so I have a good period of time if there are any problems. When the laptop goes on for the very first time, will it need to access the internet. The plan is to swap the Ethernet cable from the desktop to the lap top and hope that it will connect OK. Then after the preliminary installations, powering down the laptop and returning the Ethernet connection to the desktop and firing up the desktop to see if it is still working OK. I am therefore worried about the possibility that my broadband connection may have issues in this procedure. So if I disappear, you will know why  |
Good lucking swapping Ethernet connections, but as far as I know - that procedure should work fine on your laptop.
