I'm not victim blaming or anything and whoever's sharing the images should receive full punishment... but is it not illegal for an underage girl to send photos of herself like that anyway? I'm sure that's something she 100% is not allowed to do.

Yeah, obviously whoever posted the picture should be the one punished/being sued. Especially if FB took the picture down as soon as they were made aware of it

this is clearly someone trying to extract dosh from a wealthy company. I'm sure their terms and conditions will say something to the effect of, we are not responsible for any content posted etc.

If she was blackmailed, by someone in the UK, then that is clearly a serious crime and needs to be dealt with by the police.

No matter how wealthy the company they have to comply with the data protection act.

If the page it was posted on was taken down immediately (for having child pornography on it!) then I don't think facebook itself has anything to answer for... it'd be like saying "I'm suing The Internet!". HOWEVER it says that the PICTURE was "always taken down" as soon as they were notified. Shaky ground there. They were just deleting the photo? The whole FB group should have been deleted on the first report. I have no idea how they're justifying the group being left active, if it was.

I would also add that FB are notoriously slow to act. A few years ago, my wife's FB was "cloned" by someone she had argued with on a random status (some random bitchy American kid). Basically they made an account using her name and her profile picture and then started spamming comments all over FB. We reported it dozens of times, as did literally hundreds of other people. FB took two full weeks to remove the duplicate account. Long after we had pressured the kid into stopping by other means (we tracked down his school and emailed his headmaster... heh...)

That's happened to me too, I found them very quick to act. As was the forum involved :hee:
