A NEW war of words broke out yesterday between Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty.

Jade — in India on a charm offensive — said she turned down an invitation to Shilpa’s home in Mumbai.

But the Bollywood beauty hit back saying Jade was never asked.

Jade, 25, has been in Delhi trying to calm the race row she sparked by abusing Shilpa, 31, on TV’s Celebrity Big Brother in January.

She told reporters: “I’ve been informed Shilpa has invited me but unfortunately I have commitments with charities. If the offer is still open in the near future I’d like to see her.”

But Shilpa’s spokesman in India made it clear that Jade was not invited. Dale Bhagwagar said: “Shilpa is not interested to be ‘used’ as a PR tool to Jade Goody. It’s obvious she’s here for media mileage.”

Jade emerged from a visit to an orphanage yesterday sporting a red “tikka” on her forehead — a Hindu sign of welcome.

But her visit continues to flop. Indian MP Amer Singh said: “Everyone knows she’s shedding crocodile tears.”

And journalist Amit Sharma spoke for many in the India media, saying: “We see it as one big damage limitation exercise. Many here have been infuriated by it.” Jade is due to fly home today.

I don't even think she knows. It's all a bit pathetic really.

Alas, I don't think it will work and I'll be mortified if it does. I want her to work a little harder than this to regain the respect she had. At the moment she's doing as little as possible. Also, there are countries that would never abide Jades character and certainly never celebrate it. Britain seems to be the only place where her subhuman behaviour gives her star status.

Her PR are good but they're not that good.

Jade is hated here in Britain, but the press carpet bomb the media with the peoples scorn, and create sympathy. The reaction causes soft hearted people to desperately seek goodness in Jade and it creates a surreal cult fan base.

The rest of the world will fall for it, and then too will the rest of the world know the name of the pointless entity that is Jade Goody, and then too will people pay attention to the things Jade Goody says and does week by week....

I don't agree at all. In America she'll never become any kind of star; they like people to have a talent over there. OK there's Paris Hilton but she's probably more popular in this country than in the USA. I recall Dennis Rodman was baffled at how 'celebrities' in this country can become so without any discernible talent.

Jade needs to stick to her niche market; the chavs and the people who read Heat magazine.

Those fine up-standing Americans will accept nothing but the highest talent to grace the pages of their gossip columns.

Paris Hilton - I'll give you that one. Her family are incredibly wealthy which gave her a leg up. Have you ever slept in a Hilton?
Charles Manson - hardly a celebrity, but going on a kill crazy rampage will definitely get headlines.
George Bush - Has the mark of the Presidential seal. That makes him the most famous man in the world. Either lump it or lump it.
Britney Spears - A country chav with quite a good voice and "Hit me baby one more time" is a great record.
K Fed - Marry a star and you become a star. Sometimes.

There will always be exceptions - I was expecting you to mention Kato Kalen or someone like that - but the point remains, Jade will never be able to build a reputation, from nothing, in the USA. Her team are good but they're not miracle workers.

Of course she wont become a star...in any countries..she doesnt have a talent! shes only fmaous here because of her gobby mouth and BB!

Did Kato Kalens fame last for any length of time? He was an exception but then everybody started to ask - Why is this guy a celebrity when he has no talent? I know you don't want to believe it in but it's different in America. Jade's got no chance; she's got to stick with us as we're the only country desperate enough for role models that we'll allow her to become an icon. We're a very sad assed country.

Britain is the leader of culture in this world my friend, along with Japan and a few others and whatever is going on in Britain, is what is the front runner for Western evolution. Jade Goody is the contemporary 'celebrity' personified.

You can hardly call Charles Manson talentless in respect of comments about Jade Goody and a quest for fame.

He has a place in human history - a name recognized the world over and the subject of numerous books, written by real authors and journalists and not by people who work for a magazine he sells exclusives to....whilst he has infamy on the most literal sense he is, for better or worse, a genuine "star" in our current venacular.

George Bush is the puppet idiot frontman of genuinely intelligent men, and as such such not be placed in your list.

Hilton / Spears / Federline are just interchangeable monkeys, papparrazzi fuel, but they have each achieved a level of "stardom and celebrity" dreamed about by the Jade/Dannielle ilk and the rest of the chav circus.

As far as I am concerned, once a species produces such mutant retarded offspring as the likes of Jade Goody it's extinction is well deserved - give the cockroaches a free hand.

The level of intelligence in cockroach world would far outstrip that of a world that regards shagging a footballer, and running away from your own responsibilities with risible PR stunts and getting your tits out for sympathy as the ultimate expression of "real".
