Don't like her.UKIP won't attract nearly as many voters with her at the helm.I think it was more of a coronation than leadership race tbf.She had it in the bag.Now if Paul Nuttall had run he would've definitely given her a run for her money. He is a much more likeable character and better politician imo.

woo .... who?

With a taste for elections, the businesswoman and healthcare consultant stood as an MEP for South East England and won, joining Nigel Farage in the European Parliament.

She then quietly carved her way through the party hierarchy becoming its deputy chairwoman and spokeswoman on justice and home affairs.

She briefly blipped on the radar after telling LBC's Iain Dale that she admired Vladimir Putin as a "strong leader" and suggested UKIP and the Russian leader shared a common distaste of the European Union.

When she announced her candidacy following Mr Farage's election, she was catapulted to front runner after the deputy leader Paul Nuttall refused to join the race and second favourite Steven Woolfe was disqualified.

This made Ms James an unlikely favourite, winning the support of Mr Farage and the party's moneybags, Arron Banks, who helped fund her campaign.

Sky News understands that on his advice, she pulled out of the 12 leadership hustings to the consternation of many in the party and decided instead to run her own events, unchallenged by debate.

Her election spells trouble for the anti-Farage modernists including former deputy chairwoman Suzanne Evans, UKIP's only MP Douglas Carswell and fellow MEP Patrick O'Flynn.

In an interview this summer she made it clear she supports a purge: "There's going to be no place in UKIP under my leadership for those who have sought or seek to destabilise, destroy or even obstruct what a new constitution will outline for the new governance of this party."

But with defections and disunity rife, and a sense that the party has achieved its mission, will she be able to maintain the momentum set by her predecessor?

I'm not a UKIP supporter at all, but I think Diane James is a good choice for leadership. She tends to be very confident in her politics and comes across professional whenever I watch her on television.

I doubt UKIP will be as signifcant within UK politics during her reign though. I can't really see where UKIP goes from the point of the referendum, but then I don't know much about the party to be completely honest.

Oh, I meant UKIP in general

They have no chance now. Near enough everyone who follows UKIP are bigots and probably still have a medieval view of women. Sorry about it.

OK

can you let the forum know what actual evidence you have to back up that statement?

(I will go and get a cuppa meanwhile)

I'll just leave this here....

bigot
ˈbɪɡət/
noun
a person who is intolerant towards those holding different opinions.

You're acting intolerant to her opinion.. Much like a UKIP voter might be :suspect: who did you vote for?

Yeah she didn't even take part in any of the leadership debates so it makes a bit of a mockery of the whole 'contest'

That said she was the best of a bad bunch of candidates and she seems fairly competent and will probably be a more moderate figure than Farage

They removed someone from the party that believed in gay marriage.

And here's articles to do with their prejudice, and undemocratic opinions over the years.

So everybody else is wrong but UKIP are misunderstood? This is giving me certain vibes from the 1940's only more mild.

UKIP has a repetation for it, even amongst other right wing parties that find them a bit extreme on the prejudice front, that tells you that a higher than average amount for any other party has a prejudice in UKIP.

Plus the fact that they have removed people from the party with even one liberal viewpoint, you don't see that happening in the Tory Party, or Labour, this should worry you on how undemocratic that they can be that if you disagree with one of their stances they'll remove you from the party.

The bigger question that you need to ask yourself is what would they do if they was running the country and the public disagreed with one of their policies? They don't seem to take it lying down if you get what I mean.

hmm, the labour party are currently looking in to deselecting sitting MP's that don't share Jeremy's vision. Just saying
