12 or 24?

What kind of clock do you generally use on your devices?

12 hour eg. 7:00pm
24 hour eg. 19:00

I prefer to use 24 hour, never any confusion of whether it's night or day.

Firewire 25-09-2016 12:07 AM

24 hour on most things

But I have a 12 hour watch because it's analogue

_Tom_ 25-09-2016 01:37 AM

24 hour because I'm not American.

caprimint 25-09-2016 06:39 AM

Always 12 just cus it's easier.

ArgyESC 25-09-2016 07:54 AM

24 hour.

Cal. 25-09-2016 08:48 AM

12 is easier

Josy 25-09-2016 09:32 AM

24 cos it's easier to distinguish

Withano 25-09-2016 11:16 AM

If I asked someone the time and they said ten past seventeen, I would never speak to them again

Anyone who has ever done shift work with rotating shifts knows the value of a 24 hour clock

Crimson Dynamo 25-09-2016 11:21 AM

I recall having a conversation with a lady in the USA (work related) and during the call I became aware of the fact she has never even heard of the 24 hour clock hence the totally baffling conversation we were having about meeting dates

I had no idea that they would not use the 24 hour clock

I don't think anybody actually said they got confused, but it does require you to think about converting it rather than just seeing a number.

Most things that I use to tell the time have a 24 hour clock by default so I guess I use that more. I probably prefer 12 hours though because its how you actually think and talk about time, you don't think 'I've got that meeting taking place at fourteen o clock' and you wouldn't say to someone 'I'll meet you at seventeen thirty'

BigSister 25-09-2016 05:59 PM

Mostly 24 hour clock as I have that on most things I use

Shaun 25-09-2016 06:02 PM

Devices, 24.

Obviously have 12 hour clocks around the house, though. Digital clocks aren't terribly pretty.

Well when I see 14:00 I automatically think in my head "two o'clock" :umm2:

Here in Portugal they would say "14 hours" if asked the time though, so they do it in some places!

Niamh. 26-09-2016 02:04 PM

Yeah 24 is better especially for flight times etc

y.winter 26-09-2016 02:37 PM

24.

I still can't remember if 12am is midnight or 12pm. The 24 clock simplifies it.

You can't remember if 12am is midnight or 12 PM? The pm is a clue. :joker:

I mean specifically 12:00 and 00:00. They fall somewhere inbetween am and pm.
