Power cuts

Info on what to do in the event of a power cut...Why there would be power cuts I don't know :/

Well we had a power cut yesterday that last an hour, but that's not uncommon for my area, we always have power cuts even as far back as I can remember when I was a kid we had powercuts that lasted days.

Ah right, well it would be a new thing for many here it hasn't happened for decades.

We probably get them a couple of times a year on average, they're normally pretty brief but a couple of years back we were without power for about a day and a half when they were doing work on our street. There's always been a number you can call for updates etc. though, guess the only differences here are that there's now one number nationwide and its easier to remember

...in my village and the surrounding ones, we get them quite frequently as Matt says, to do essential and repair work...we often do get notified though if it's going to be a long time without power, like a full day or more...but not always the notification, I think maybe one smaller job that is thought can lead to another and another or just taking longer than was thought...

Ah I thought this was informing of some national blackout... Oh well

It's probably in response to the wet windy winters we have had recently where flooding has be more problematic. It seems to be more of a rural thing as well can't remember the last time we had a power cut..hope I don't jinx myself

I have lived in several widely differing areas, and have experienced more power cuts in the more urban locations than when I have lived in the country.

I think, around 3 or 4 short cuts per year on average in the urban areas and only 1 or 2 in the others.
