The Channel 4 reality show Dumped: Your Home Is A Tip echoes kids’ book Stig of the Dump about a caveboy living on a tip, which became a TV series.

Contestants have yet to be named — but telly chiefs say they would be happy to have Big Brother stars who have been dumped on the public, as our joke mock-up shows.

Producer Andrew Mackenzie warned: “Some of the tasks may be pretty gross.”

But Channel 4 boss Kevin Lygo insists there is a serious purpose — to highlight how much re-usable “junk” we throw away.

He said: “It’s about how we live and how wasteful we are. You’d be amazed what you find on tips. A similar show in Sweden turned up a working TV.”

The programme will be filmed at a secret location this year and aired nightly for a week in the autumn.

I read about this this morning. You wouldn't get me doing that! Scavenging for food etc. Disgusting! Some people will do anything to get on TV. That reminds me. Does anyone remember the late night programme The Word with Terry Christian?
