Laura Whitmore has revealed she got a cheeky text from Ed Balls on Strictly Come Dancing 2016.



According to the Daily Mail, the former MP sent Laura a message with a 'flirty offer' after she was left injured on the show.

Laura was ruled out of live performance last weekend due to an ankle injury.

Speaking at the Unsigned Music Awards, Laura revealed how Ed had been more than helpful in offering her a helping hand - quite literally.

"Ed Balls sent me a message saying, 'I’m available to rub your ankle anytime you want, Laura'. I was like, 'Ed Balls just sent me that message'," the TV presenter said.

She told the newspaper: "I love my Whatsapp group because it’s the most eclectic group of people. We all click. I don’t know if it was like this other years. You can’t fake that."

Ed has become a bit of a fan favourite on this year's show and has so far avoided the dance off despite regular appearances at the bottom of the scoreboard.

Now he is fast becoming one of the most popular bets to WIN the show, according to leading bookmaker Coral.

Week after week, the 49-year-old has defied the odds by remaining in the competition, with his odds on landing the coveted Glitter Ball trophy tumbling at an alarming rate. Mr Balls is now 50-1 to go all the way, having been initially chalked up as the 150-1 rank outsider.

“We are starting to really sweat over Ed Balls’ popularity as punters don’t seem to care what price he is, they just want to back him,” said Coral’s Nicola McGeady.

“With so many bets being placed on Mr Balls, we are now facing our biggest ever Strictly pay-out should he go all the way, so every week we are just praying he gets voted off the show,” added McGeady.
