Winners single will be an original song written by Ed Sheeran

It seems The X Factor bosses are still reeling from last year's winner Louisa Johnson only making it to number 9 at Christmas (imagine!) because they've apparently bagged Ed Sheeran to write this year's offering. According to The Sun, Ed has sent Simon Cowell a new song for the winning act to release as a Christmas single. It's also reportedly a classic Sheeran-style acoustic ballad, with a source adding: "Everything Ed does turns to gold. To have him write the winner's song is huge and amazing news for this year's winner. Related: X Factor winners' post-show debut singles: we rank all 12 from worst to best "All the remaining contestants have heard the track and it works for the majority. "They can't believe potentially their first ever single will be written by Ed. "The only chance his song won't get used is if [5 After Midnight] or Honey G pull off a shock win. Then bosses might need to consider another one of their options." Yeah, we were just about to say, we can't imagine Honey G covering an acoustic ballad - though if she does win, we'd like to suggest 'Fairytale of North Weezy' for |
Clearly done this just for Matt
|
Emily would smash it

But isnt Ed Sheeran so 2013, he is not really relevant for 2017?
|
Will be a bit embarrassing if he has to shoe-horn in a 'Sing' style rap for Honey G.
|
Here for Honey G to win to **** it all up tbh.

"Everything Ed does turns to gold."
Does it though? |

Good business move Ed, get those coins

Imagine being forced to sing an Ed Sheeran original
|
FINALLY :clap1:
Let's appreciate for one moment that this'll be the first original winner's single since That's My Goal. Long overdue |
Bye why couldn't 5AM pull off an acoustic song??

Poor Matt

Confirmed on Xtra Factor that the finalists recorded their winner's singles this week
Matt's has the word 'cheer' and interestingly 5AM's has 'Christmas' I would definitely be down for a Christmas song as the winner's single at long last |
If Ed is writing it then it would be absolutely a dream for Emily if she makes the final. They have a similar style with regard to accoustic singing
|
Great to see that they're trying something like this again (Paradise by Coldplay was originally penned by Chris Martin to be the winners single in 2010). It'll be interesting to see what Ed's come up with.
