http://www.fleckingrecords.co.uk/wp-...12/12/xmas.jpg

From 1st December on wards, we watch a different Christmas movie and write a review in the run up to 25th December - Christmas. We score the movie out of 10 and at the end a rank down is completed on the films we watched based on the scores collected overall from all reviewers participating.

We will watch a new Christmas film every 5 days, starting on Wednesday 1st December and concluding on Thursday 24th December. In total we will watch 6 movies which will keep it short and simple, not requiring much dedication.

The schedule:

Wednesday 1st December - Krampus
Monday 5th December - The Polar Express
Saturday 10th December - Black Christmas
Thursday 15th December - Home Alone 2: Lost In New York
Tuesday 20th December - Elf
Saturday 24th December - The Grinch

I thought perhaps one of the movies could be Krampus, it's the new Christmas Horror film that came out last year.

Day 1 (Wednesday 1st December) - Krampus

http://static.wixstatic.com/media/8d...39b5bc7be9.jpg

While the holiday season represents the most magical time of year, ancient European folklore warns of Krampus, a horned beast who punishes naughty children at Christmastime. When dysfunctional family squabbling causes young Max (Emjay Anthony) to lose his festive spirit, it unleashes the wrath of the fearsome demon. As Krampus lays siege to the Engel home, mom (Toni Collette), pop (Adam Scott), sister (Stefania LaVie Owen) and brother must band together to save one another from a monstrous fate.

I'll watch most of these films a bit closer to Christmas so I'll just post my thoughts and reviews in here?

Krampus

First things first, the cast is amazing. I was shocked to see such a cast for this sort of movie. When I first saw Krampus my expectations were high due to that, guessing the script was great.

After the fun opening of shoppers destroying a mall we get to know the family and then the extended family when the trashy sister arrives - this is probably when the movie finds it's pace, Aunt Dorothy in perticular is hilarious and you'll most likely feel pretty sorry for Max, a kid who still believes in Santa but loses faith after being made fun of.

I think the arrival of the Kampus is also strong, he's very menacing and creepy from the get go but his first victim was a bit of a waste imo, I wish we had gotten to see more of that person.

The house attacks by the various toys and Christmas food stuffs are fun but never felt menacing to me but they are pretty good creature designs I guess. I think the worst part is the ending. It felt very meh and I wish more had been explained.

Overall I would say it's a fun movie but it's got little rewatching value and it's not something I'll want to watch every Christmas from now on.

5/10
