What are you having as your starter on Christmas Day?

I think I'm going to try something different to the usual Prawn Cocktail this year. i'm thinking maybe crab cakes

Are you going to hers? Do you get to have your kids or not?

I was talking about this the other day, I also usually have a prawn cocktail, but was this year thinking about having scallops. I've never had them before, but my mate told me they were good.

Daniel-X 30-11-2016 02:50 PM

Idk yet, last year we had little smoked salmon and cream cheese things and the year before we had pâté and melba toast.

Firewire 30-11-2016 02:52 PM

Homemade soup

I've never tasted them either but I always wanted to after hearing Gordon Ramsay go on about them constantly on Hell's Kitchen

I'm not making dinner this year but I think we'll probably have cheese, olives, cured ham, dates in bacon and probably more.

Josy 30-11-2016 02:54 PM

Soup or melba toasts with pate

Gstar 30-11-2016 02:56 PM

Jordan. 30-11-2016 02:57 PM

Do all your dogs get on ok? :worry:

Calderyon 30-11-2016 08:14 PM

No starters, go straight for the main course meal with meats (turkey/ham, karelia stew, maybe fish) with potatoes and vegetables. Vichy water as drink and bread as a side dish.

Crimson Dynamo 30-11-2016 08:26 PM

My actual starter is a bone dry sherry

Shaun 30-11-2016 08:27 PM

Don't have a starter. Don't really need to given how much there is of the main and dessert...

Marsh. 30-11-2016 08:32 PM

A selection box.

Prawn Cocktail

caprimint 30-11-2016 09:17 PM

This thread is so relevant to me rn because we've been trying to decide but can't come up with anything. :worry:

Last year we did baked camembert so we want to do something different and it can't include meat/fish. Might make some brie and cranberry bites or something.

hijaxers 30-11-2016 09:21 PM

A Tequila sunrise

Cherie 30-11-2016 09:26 PM

I saw some crab mousse things in the Sainsburys Christmas book might order those :omgno:
