BIG Brother bully Jo O’Meara has revealed why she refused rehab despite considering suicide.

The ex-S Club star’s concerned family and Channel 4 bosses tried to persuade her to check into The Priory as she struggled to cope with the backlash over the Shilpa Shetty race row.

But the blonde – who also faces financial ruin and is trying to sell her home – reckoned her family could offer more help than staff at the clinic favoured by top celebs.

Singer Jo, 27, said: “I’ve got a very good family around me and after speaking to the psychiatrist they wanted to put me in The Priory.

“I didn’t want to go in there because, not being horrible, I didn’t think strangers would benefit me.

“Just having friends and family around me every day made it a lot easier.”

And Jo, who takes Prozac antidepressants, spoke for the first time about the moment she tried to kill herself with painkillers.

She admitted on GMTV: “I felt like I had nothing left. My friend Cindy was fantastic and stayed with me.

“She popped out and I did start to get really low and upset. I had a headache so I poured myself a drink, which I shouldn’t have done because of the Prozac.

“I did take a couple of Nurofen and then I just started taking more and more.”

Jo, who recovered after being found by her friend, had signed up for Big Brother because she needed the cash to stop her home being repossessed and save her dog-breeding business.

But after being branded a bully and a racist over her antics towards Bollywood babe Shilpa Shetty, 31, her finances have nosedived.

She has been forced to put her £300,000 home in Romford, Essex, up for sale after falling behind with mortgage payments.

Jo was coy when confronted with our exclusive story that she is set to pen a warts-and-all-book about her BB experience.

Shilpa, 31, has publicly forgiven her, but has not been in touch.

Actually, can you imagine if she went to The Priory, and Jade was there. Might as well have thrown Danielle in aswell. That would have been a strange one to see!

Cos thats what I see as genuinely caring.
Otherwise, I couldn't give a rats arse about how many pills she's popping, or how she sees a negative out come from her life. Boo hoo.

The problem with what you say is apparently clear.

Jo O'Meara was a pop singer in the band, S Club 7.

They made loads of hits and was a fantastic success. If you asked children in schools about S Club 7 most of them would be able to sing one of their songs or if a song was played to them, they would recognize it immediately.

Jo was part of this band and certainly on of the main vocalists. Many concerts and interviews and loved by millions of fans.

I actually like their songs and never focused in on Jo O'Meara in particular. I was more into their music.

I don't forget those times and their performances either.

All of that went on for a very long time and kind of puts a three week ordeal in January's C.B.B in the shade.

I don't judge Jo O'Meara from what I saw in the house, but I also wasn't happy with the way she acted in the house, (even though it is edited material)

I was annoyed at how little everybody took notice of the bullying of Dirk Benedict. I spotted what was said to him, by Jo O'Meara and also, the other house-mates who were left, after Jade Goody left.

However, putting that to one side and even the Shilpa stuff, I am not happy to see Jo placed in this position.

I am not condoning bullying and I am not saying that Jo is an angel or even a devil.

She had a great time in S Club 7 & even had some solo material which she was happy to do.

Jo O'Meara went into deep, deep depression after all of this. It affected her terribly. It was a strange situation to be labelled a racist and a bully, when she never considered these types of words to be labelled to her. But they were.

I have not got a clue, what is going through her mind.

I am not a fan of her in particular and do not know her. I can only make judgements on her, from what I see.

But, I am not going to ever say, that I want to see her commit suicide or "Pop pills", as you so quaintly put it!

I want to see her realise that what she and the other two girls did. offended many people. Whether Jo's story is either true or untrue regarding her saying to Davina, that she just didn't click with Shilpa and that was it?

Jo should have realised that people had been offended and said sorry to only those people, as it is important!

Jo's story in the Newspapers, whereby she said that she is not sorry and would do it all over again, was a terrible mistake.

Jo said that they got it all out of context, and it wasn't true.

Jo O'Meara made that error and the walls started to cave in on her. It all went wrong and even though, there were many that hated Jade Goody, at least Jade was sorry and was doing everything she could to mend the situation.

Jo was different and many hated what she did in the house, but, the haters and offended-ones decided to turn on Jo, as she was laughing at them.

Now, Jo has decided to make the situation more clearer.

Jo appeared on GMTV a second time and has showed the viewers that she feels a lot better.

Now she must make the same sort of impact that Jade Goody has done.

Show how what she did was not so bad and go out there and try her best.

Sadly for Jo, she doesn't have Jade's money, or any where near. So, she could do something, which costs nothing, but makes some good.

I am not going to suggest anything, as it is up to her real supporters, friends and family to make things happen.

Jo will come through this and now that the investigation into apparent racism, which was never the case anyway, as people just jumped on silly words, which were only offensive but never racial.

Jo will know this now and the timing of her GMTV interview, etc.. was great and just after the CPS's verdict too.

But the damage is still there and she will still feel fear of what might be.

I don't wish her bad stuff, only for things to get better.

There has been enough of all of that already.

1. What impact has Jade made? In my eyes, she is just making things worse for herself. Everytime I read something about her, my opinion of her drops. Like todays sari story.

2. That is your opinion. Be careful. You can offend people, that believe the comments are racist, with remarks like that.

Exactly!!

Jo said she wasn't sorry.

Jade said she was and is doing something to help people.


Jo needs to look at the good that could be done, to make people see that she is a better person.

Two good points for critisism.

Firstly, Jade has said sorry and done what she could to make things better.

I think that you would agree that a generous cash offer to a worthy charity is a good move.

If it is going to help people, it has to be good.

Remember, there are advisors giving her advice. Of course, she doesn't have to take their advice?

The other point regarding "those who were offended".

I do recognize this and I hope that they recognize British law also. I state the conclusion from the Crown Prosecution Service, which has closed the case and said that their was no racism evident, only offensive words.

I am mearly saying what is fact.

This is not my opinion, it is just what is actually the case.

I can't change what is actual fact.

She will move on from this, the show is over and her depression has got better now, which we all saw.

Now, she must stop worrying about possible prosecution and try to concentrate on her image.

That is obvious!

The last thing she wants, is to be too afraid to go out and show her face.

Well make that clear then so people do not get hold of the wrong end of the stick. I wouldn't have linked "which was never the case anyway, as people just jumped on silly words, which were only offensive but never racial" to the decision of the CPS.

Oh excuse me! I mentioned Jades name once. The topic carried on about Jo until you turned up and then started preaching about Saint Goody again! Don't you have a go at me. That was a poor attempt.
