BBC Three coming back (as an hour programming block on BBC 2 welp)

Quote:

Senior BBC executives are understood to have formulated plans for a designated BBC3 hour on one of the main terrestrials channels.
The plans, which have been put forward in a briefing document and are understood to have been circulated among the Corporation’s executive board, puts forwards the arguments for a designated slot – most likely on BBC2.
BBC3 has been online for nearly a year now with ad hoc showings on the main terrestrial channels of the best programmes such as the acclaimed abduction drama Thirteen.
But BBC3 shows, which also includes the Doctor Who spin-off Class, haven’t found a permanent regular home - and that may change.
RadioTimes.com understands that the briefing document has prompted senior executives to seriously discuss the possibility of establishing a “BBC3 hour” which will air the best stuff at some fixed point in the schedule.
But where?
RadioTimes.com understands that some executives want the BBC3 hour to air on BBC2 at 10pm but that would mean pushing Newsnight to 11pm – or even moving Newsnight to the BBC News Channel.
However, another permanent home is more likely.
Given the fierce internal battles earlier this year when BBC1’s 10pm news bulletin extended from a 30 to a 45 minute slot - which saw it eat into Newsnight’s 10.30 start time on BBC2 – it is understood that that is a fight that the Corporation's director general Tony Hall is not keen to have again.
Sauce
bitch just give us back our channel </3

Just what we all hoped for.

Who cares anymore anyway? AD/FG are on ITV2 now and that's the only thing anyone was bothered about.

Good idea but Class deserves to be on primetime

Just return the channel and give the slot to BBC Four instead? Still makes no sense to me that BBC Three got the chop in the whole first place.

It's a mess but I don't think BBC Four should be given the chop either because it's actually a good arts channel

BBC Four is important to BBC's remit to "inform, educate and entertain" even though I don't watch anything from it

BBC Three shouldn't have been axed either but it's down to the pressures from the Government since it's under so much scrutiny

BBC3 was a **** show in it's last 4 years and really only produced the good Reggie Yates/Stacey Dooley documentary, it was never a major loss x

Firewire 03-12-2016 07:26 PM

I never really watched it tbh

I only watch Class and Cuckoo now and those aren't really worth an individual channel (they should be on BBC One)

I thought Class was going to be broadcast on BBC One?

Unless they've subsequently viewed the series and changed their minds (It hasn't been all that great, has it?) :worry:

ok but not seeing a random repeat of gavin and stacey xmas this year will be weird </3

Don't Gold show Gavin and Stacey 24 hours a day in the run-up to Christmas

I've liked it but a lot of it has been rushed and hasn't really made any sense
