The Royal Variety Performance 2016 (My Review and Air Date)

This year I went to the Royal Variety Performance for the fourth time, and after three years of sitting on the back row we were shocked to get a phone call just two weeks ago saying front row tickets were available for £70, down from £390 so it was hard to say no!

After hearing OneRepublic and Sheridan Smith had to pull out, I was disappointed however still looking forward to it.

Once we were seated, the show finally started and I was so excited. David Walliams was hosting, one of my favourite comedians and a great presenter for the show. It was great when he came through the audience dressed as staff members too! Robbie Williams opened he show with Heavy Entertainment Show,Ma great performance that ended with a duet with David. Diversity came on afterwards, and after seeing them live on tour two years ago I had high expectations that were definitely met. Unfortunately Jordan wasn't there, he must have not learned the dance since leaving Australia.

Rob Beckett provided quality comedy, lots of belly laughs from he audience. It was then time for the act I was most looking forward to - DNCE. I saw then at the Teen Awards in October and loved the vibe I got, and it was exactly the same last night, me and my friend Sophie both went into shock when Joe Jonas made eye contact with us and sang along!

The Beatles, Love by Cirque du Soleil was very emotional, a beautiful dance. Joe Lhcett was also a very natural comedian, providing me with many giggles! Next up was Tom Fletcher's 'The Christmasaurus' which was way too Christmassy but a good performance. ABC closed the first act, someone I wasn't a fan of but many were.

After an ice cream break, Act Two began. An American in Paris was a good musical, and Alan Davies gave relatable comedy for many in the audience, I was laughing the whole way through. At this point, a guy came over with a massive camera, kneeled in front of me and my friend and filmed us for at least half of this act, and after a few awkward moments I managed to get used to it.

Gary Barlow had the cast of The Girls perform as a choir, everyone in the stalls holding up sunflowers to make a field of flowers. BGT winner Richard Jones made some emotional magic for us, involving Charles and Camilla. A stand out performance for me was Emeli Sande, with such a stunning voice. Sting was also good, but again someone I haven't heard much of.

The surprise act was next - Lady GaGa. She has a massive voice, and she was, just like Joe Jonas, giving me and my friend a period of eye contact whichever as amazing! Amber Riley performed And I'm Telling You, blowing the roof off with her massive voice! Closing the show was Barry Gibb, possibly the most annoying singer I have ever seen but providing a little dancy entertainment to some 60's classics.

It was, in a nutshell, the best show I have ever seen!

The Royal Variety Performance 2016 airs on ITV, Tuesday 13th December.

Great read, I actually thought it was very respectful that Gaga covered up her tats as well, she's been raised well

It's not a great song Tbf but her voice was really good and she looked my way a few times so that was enough!

Lots from the audience. I thought he was funny too, not the best of the three though.
