Did Saara lose because of song choice

The Winner Takes It All was the song she sang when she won her 1st public vote so if she had sang that like her fans wanted do you reckon she would have won?

Adamw92 12-12-2016 05:19 AM

No. it may have been a little closer if she'd done something other than Oh So Quiet but Matt managed to snag the 5 After MIdnight voters so she wasn't going to win either way :(

Amy Jade 12-12-2016 05:20 AM

Nope. Brexit.

Cherie 12-12-2016 06:20 AM

Matt Clinched it singing the John Lewis song

Shaun 12-12-2016 06:25 AM

His duet was more of a "moment" what with the OTT stage production and glitter cannon. And as Cherie said, every song he sang was meticulously calculated to be current and "what the public want". Plus there are those that won't vote for women in reality TV competitions, so 5AM's fanbase most likely went to him.

She literally could not have done any better. I think people had already decided before tonight and 5AM voters moved to Matt when they went out.

Nicky91 12-12-2016 07:33 AM

yes definitely :)

Strictly Jake 12-12-2016 09:18 AM

I think she had really good song choices

What I find so strange is that we didnt get to hear both of them sing the winners song

Turns out once was enough for that dirge

Singing the Winner Takes It All does tend to be a huge encouragement based on those lyrics. I know it would certainly make it closer than the 8% mark

Niamh. 12-12-2016 10:19 AM

I think she was probably at a disadvantage because she wasn't British tbh

Withano 12-12-2016 12:25 PM

I cant imagine many people actually listen to the songs and voted for the best on the night
People had a firm first, second and third favourite before the show begun and nothing would have changed that.

LukeB 12-12-2016 12:30 PM

Nope, Brexit is the reason. People have issues with foreigners being on UK TV and saw some tweets saying "it would be weird seeing someone from finland winning a UK show"

reece(: 12-12-2016 01:02 PM

Brexit did it!

Firewire 12-12-2016 01:03 PM

I don't think so considering Matt's second song last night was much worse than Saara's

Cherie 12-12-2016 03:31 PM

i think Simon was very keen for her to win as he really did plug her over Matt but the GBP will have their way, I don't think Brexit was a factor as 5am would have beaten her into third, as Shaun said he got the 5am vote as she was winning on vote freeze

Liam- 12-12-2016 03:35 PM

No, she lost because she's a foreign lesbian woman who was up against a supposedly 'attractive' young white British male.

Wouldn't that just strengthen the "Brexit" case though?, all those who were voting for British acts transferred their votes to the other British act when they were eliminated.

5am fans would mainly be girls so they would transfer to Matt I think, if people were voting on nationality she wouldn't have topped the vote for two weeks and been top when the vote was frozen.

:smug:

She would have won for sure if she was British because no one would have a issue with her winning a uk show. It's pretty known about brexit and that ignorant people have issues with foreigners being on UK show and winning a UK show. Nicole even egged those people on with her shadyness too because of her comments.

Obviously not everyone would be voting on nationality but I think alot would be not that there's anything wrong with that either though imo

How come she was top at vote freeze then? If people were voting on nationality she would never had made the final never mind top 2

Foreign acts have won BGT , an American has has won CBB, so sorry no it's nothing to do with Brexit, it personal choice and the demographic of the voting public which apparantly is young girls and cat ladies, the revenge of the cat lady....:hehe:

yeah only one foreign act/who doesn't live in England has has won BGT, that's pretty much like saying I can't be racist because my friend is black. over 90% RTV winners are from england. It's very rare a foreigner wins. The odds are always in british peoples favour and there's been loads of comments saying how it isn't right how a non-uk person wins a UK show. Cat ladies, horny females do play into it but so do ignorant uneducated viewers too
