red phone box days are numbered - yes or no poll

red phone box days are numbered 13.12.16

this was my gateway
so proud of my invention
10p would be to much to pay
so totally free i launched my poetry extension.
i thanked those who maintained
the rest is history
highgate village is now weekly cain ed
why i left the phone box is no mystery.
people got mixed
just like me and understanding spelling
the damage could not be fixed
the deposit of human feces forced no more dwelling.
the red box was fantastic
but i needed a air conditioned premises
i took steps that were drastic
so i conceded to my phone box nemeses.
it is still beautiful
highgate village must never loose
so prominent and colourful
its perfect standing even if i no longer use.

They're literally only used for drug dealing these days.

Livia 13-12-2016 10:52 AM

Lots of the villages around me have working red phone boxes. I would like one for a shower cubicle... Santa, if you're reading this...

Yeah, Hanukkah starts on Christmas Eve. Presents every day for eight days.

Maybe you should convert...

Might have Christmukkah like in The OC. I believe the theory was that Christmas is one day with big presents, and Hanukkah is 8 days of small presents... so Christmukkah is 8 days of big presents.

...though I guess it could backfire and be one day of small presents. Like a dreidel. Or that candle thing. Or one of those li'l hats...

We've never had Red phone boxes here in Hull, we've always had White, because we're unique. We're not British telecom or whatever every one else is, we're KC (Kingston Communications).

After our Golden boy 'Cool Hand' Luke Campbell brought back Gold from London, some of our Phone boxes are now Gold.

They're cute and a symbol of the country

Ours were mostly green/green and white but they're mostly gone now, I think we got newer glass ones in later years

When BT took over from the GPO, the legal agreement was that BT kept up public telephone boxes. Even those which were unprofitable. It was written into the contract.

So... I'd be interested to know how the contract has been amended without the public being told.

Because very few people use them,
They are now on Deletion Contract
even today on BBC they said they will all be gone
except for the boxes done up and cleaned,

I understand. But their contractual agreement was that public call boxes should remain whether they were profitable or unprofitable. Because at the time the contract was signed all call boxes were public ownership and there was a worry that BT would do away with unprofitable boxes. . I want to know what's happened to this clause in the contract and how they've managed to get out of it. Because phone box after phone box has disappeared. They should try to use them for other things... wifi hotspot, town/village defibrilator... They have no right to remove them.

arista 14-12-2016 06:12 AM

No one can keep
those old boxes clean

All will be removed
unless a town is looking after it etc.
