Page 17 of the
FT weekend Dec 10/Dec11 They are saying its a Fine Line. To be honest if I go into a store I do not have time for Chit chat. I can use a Robot machine in 40 seconds. In Out Fast TIME IS MONEY https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-checkout http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/...2939492294.jpg Yes Pal, write more positive in your paper |
Fast lanes are all well and good while they work but I work on them and they're prone to breaking down and half of the peoplw using them don't like to but it's the only way to get through quickly as normal tills are always busy.
Nice picture of you arista btw, looks like you have a bagging alert there! |

One Store has bought NCR machines they are the future. Amy if you came over to fix my machine with your smile I will have a better day |
I prefer a human cashier. Apart from anything else it gives someone a job.
|
I totally refuse to use them , you don't get the shopping any cheaper ! They'll have us stacking shelves on the way round next .
|
Those machines are usually **** 90% of the time though
'Unexpected item in bagging area' NO IT'S NOT YOU TWAT :fist: |

I love Buckfast, it tastes like cough syrup. I only drink it with my brother though on special occasions (usually when we're trying to pull all nighters for a Conor McGregor fight) |

( I agree) :) |
The actual process is no quicker than someone else scanning your shopping, infact it's probably slower as you have to do all the jobs yourself.

Sorry Vicky I mean the New Fat NCR machines the Supermarkets that get them are getting more Customers, |
Vicky
I am sorry to inform you these NCR machine's are better than Any Human 100%. The the Human on that is on the till can work in the store in another place its not healthy to sit that long It's going to Happen more If a staff member is fit they can cover 12 machines on their own. I am Not Joking |
I hate the self service/quick checkouts.
They do my head in. More proper checkouts and cashiers are what's needed. |

My friend went into her bank recently she didn't want to use the paying in machine as she was paying ain a large amount so she went to the cashier who was sat doing nothing, the cashier told her to use the self service till,my friend said you know you are putting your job at risk and the cashier said she wasn't, how dumb an you be :nono:
|
I love the self service machines but like others have said they don't work properly a lot of the time and it's really frustrating. I'm not sure what these NCR machines are or why they're supposedly not going to have any issues?
|
If I have to process my own shopping, how much are they going to pay me? If they're saving salaries by having fewer cashiers, are they now expecting me to do it for free? No thank you, I already have a job. I refuse to use those self-checkouts because the more of us that use them, the fewer jobs the supermarkets will offer... although they won't be adjusting their prices accordingly.
|
ugh self service is iconic like i can just stick me earphones in and bop around the shop and be done without ever having to talk to people
|
People talk about them taking people's jobs but if retailers can't save costs by adopting new technologies then there might not even be shops to speak of never mind jobs. Reality is that a lot of traditional high street chains would struggle to survive if they didn't carry out huge cost cutting
