Very strange how Christmas suddenly ends
I'm 34 and have experience of many Christmases. :p:cheer2:
I do find it odd how in all this build up we celebrate Christmas, but on the big Day, by 3.15pm, after the Queen's speech, people are already talking about booking their summer holidays and Christmas being over. Until I was about 30, I still thought Christmas went up to January 2nd - yeah I know there are the 12 days of Christmas. But in a lot of people's minds Christmas is over on December 26th. ODD.:conf: |
It's one of the things I hate, all the build up then you are not allowed to enjoy it as you are bombarded with sale and holiday ads it's been like this for years though Gusto

Oh, yeah, they start Christmas in October then when the actual Christmas season is supposed to be they've moved onto Easter and summer.
|
yeah i hate that too :(, I Love Christmas :D
|
It's just the big prolonged build up and the sudden end. :(
|
I guess it applies to most events though just with slightly less of a build-up really. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing because it's exciting (doing all the planning, having parties, seeing family, buying gifts etc) but I do wish it went on for longer.
|
It's not quite over that quickly for me though.
Most people I know stay in the "Christmas zone" from the day through to New Year. Then New Year's Day most people take their decorations down and are back to normal. |

I always find the couple of days after doing something you've been really waiting for are quite depressing. It's kind of a reality check that good things don't last forever and you go back to normality.
|
When I look forward to Christmas, I look forward to the whole time off work not just the day itself
|
Yes, the way how time passes is quite strange, yes.

That being said though, I enjoy the buildup to Christmas much more than the actual day itself. |
So actually it's more like Christmas now, on December 15th, than it will be in 11 days time.

I love the whole period of Christmas-New Year
|
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year :hee:
And it runs from the day before Xmas eve straight though to January 2nd for my family tbh. |
The build-up is so prolonged these days (they start hammering it right after Halloween!) that I think by the time the day comes a lot of people are just feeling pretty much done with it :joker:. We took our decorations down on the 26th last year. Humbug.
|
After xmas lunch and presents are done, I just want it o all go away
|
Christmas for me begins on Christmas day not ends.
It runs until January 6th. It has never just been about one day for me and I feel a little sad for some that it is just that. |
Christmas Eve is my favourite. Though this year I'll be glad when it's all over I think
