Universities?

Too much emphasis on "ologies"

Not enough emphasis on trades and skills

?

Most people go to university for the piss up, its a mockery.

The majority of courses, there is always a good selection of people who dont focus on their studies and spend most of their student loan on alcohol.

University is for broadening your mind. Colleges and apprenticeships are for your trades and skills.

Eh? The threads actually about funding and how your tax payers pennies are being spent?

Should've put that in the OP instead of that vague nonsense. :nono:

Things are worth what people pay for them. Things that have a strong emphasis do so because many people deem that its worth it... And vice versa..

In bachelors 100% of my grade came from the work I did in my 3rd year, making my efforts in the first two years very close to meaningless! (I still had to pass, so not entirely meaningless). Im not sure if theres a solution to this.. Drink?

You're quite eager to bring that up in every thread aren't you...

If you go to uni for the purpose of getting a job, almost using it as a means to an end, you're Doing It Wrong

And for the record, the 'ologies' are the best :hee:

user104658 12-01-2017 08:43 PM

I almost sort of agree BUT only because of the way that it de-values subjects and the worth of the degree. For example, Psychology is an important subject, in pretty much every area of modern life. Medical and social, obviously, but also when it comes to all sorts of areas of business from storefront layouts to advertising.

So, you need psychology students.

What you probably DON'T need is an intake of 300+ psychology students every year at every University in the UK.

I'd also add that the funding is only relevant in countries that give grants for tuition fees. Where students pay (or pay back) their fees, people can pay to study whatever they want to pay to study

Are you saying that you have to have gone to uni to have a social conscience? And that bish bosh Essex man is too thick to have one and spends his time spouting the sun?

You may have a point.
