Riverdale - On Netflix now

I watched the first episode, it's terrible but it's prime guilty pleasure material. New episodes get uploaded every Friday.

I heard about this for the first time earlier today. The teen drama will be predictably tedious but the mystery hook has me interested so I'll be giving it a go.

This show gives me GLUE vibes for some reason.

Riverdale

New series based on the Archie Comics

Developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and executive produced by Greg Berlanti.

Airs on The CW in the US and then one day later on Netflix here. It started on Jan 26th so only two episodes have aired so far.

Synopsis from Netflix: While navigating the troubled waters of sex, romance, school and family, teen Archie and his gang become entangled in a dark Riverdale mystery.

I watched the first two episodes and really enjoyed it. It's doing well critically, too, with a score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.

It has an 80s feel to it, even though it's set in the present day.

Here for the 80s feel. It's one of the things I loved about Stranger Things :flutter:

Jonathan you lazy bitch!

MB. 05-02-2017 01:02 AM

(I do intend to watch this eventually, I didn't just enter this thread to call Jonathan names)

Firewire 05-02-2017 01:04 AM

Well I didn't ****ing see it DID I

Ross. 05-02-2017 01:05 AM

typical Jonathan trying to steal the limelight

Firewire 05-02-2017 01:08 AM

Ugh just do one

Ross. 05-02-2017 01:09 AM

No I want to discuss the show so you do one

Firewire 05-02-2017 01:09 AM

KJ Apa is fit as **** btw

Tom4784 05-02-2017 01:30 AM

Second episode was decent, I think they need to make it more unique though, outside of the aesthetic it's pretty much the same as every teen drama ever made.

Stereotypical gay best friend makes me want to die as does Cole Sprouse's painfully typical edgy outsider/writer character.

Firewire 05-02-2017 01:33 AM

The gay character is poorly written which is a let down

Amy Jade 05-02-2017 01:35 AM

They need to hurry up and add the best Archie character in. Miss Sabrina Spellman.

Spoiler:

Infact move the Spellman clan in asap

MB. 08-02-2017 09:07 PM

I watched the first two episodes and they were nice enough

MB. 08-02-2017 09:10 PM

Anyway today I learned that one of the characters is called Alice Cooper

Natalie. 21-02-2017 08:54 PM

Seen 3 episodes so far, enjoying it more than I though I would

MB. 25-02-2017 01:41 PM

This is... still good (helpful, I know)

I wonder how long they'll drag out The Gay One's storyline with the Serpent bloke only for absolutely nothing to happen

Tom4784 25-02-2017 01:51 PM

It's getting better with each episode especially in the ones like the latest episode which focus more on the mystery at hand then the rather boring soapy stuff.

They need to overhaul Kevin's character though, it's annoying how much of a typical gay best friend he is. The other characters are improving although I could do without the Jughead narrations. Also the dialogue and it's insistence to references to the 50's feels a bit awkward, like I get why they do it but it doesn't feel very authentic to the fact that they are teenagers, not Diablo Cody characters.
