Town Centre full of beggers

Just been to reading town centre and I'm not kidding its was full of beggars and homeless in every nook and granny, there was so many they where walking up to people and begging.

Something needs to be done, most of these people are begging for drug or drink money.

This filth needs to be cleared.

Same in central London. There are so many.

Ring the Fire brigade, hose them out of town. They get a wash at the same time, two birds and all that.

I was in Reading yesterday and saw literally none. But it doesnt surprise me, housing prices are high there, they're probably locals that cant afford rent.
The "filth" doesnt need to be cleared, the housing prices are the issue. You and I would both beg for money if we were unlucky enough to find ourselves in the same situation.

Jack_ 09-02-2017 02:12 PM

'Filfth'

:umm2:

It's very unfortunate isn't it. You can't cross the road without bumping into one in Cardiff. I'm very compassionate and would like to help but I can't give change out everytime to every person I saw . When they're by the cash point it's worse. It makes me very uncomfortable. My wife mutters something offensive each time but I am just grateful it's not me or one of my daughters in that position. Something needs to be done it's true but what I don't know. R.

They care more about getting drugs and drink than keeping a roof over their heads, just the other day I heard from a friend that works for maidenhead town hall that a guy living on the streets got a lovely one bed flat but instead of paying his rent he spent the money on drugs, I'm all for helping someone but not when these types take the piss.
And these people live in filth, go and have a bloody wash.

Jack_ 09-02-2017 02:19 PM

You do realise drug addiction is an illness, right?

It's not called 'addiction' for fun

Oh I was wrong, housing prices arent the issue. Weird presumptions and generalisations are.
Because apparently 'my m8 says this one guy' = 'every begger to ever exist ever'

Niamh. 09-02-2017 02:23 PM

Are these foreign beggers or British ones because if they are British shouldn't you all be looking after your own and all that?

Crimson Dynamo 09-02-2017 02:26 PM

Just do not give them money, ever, its a simple but effective way to eradicate begging. I was in Edinburgh the other week and there were 2 young chaps on Waverley bridge, sitting on their arses in the pouring rain. Now no one in their right mind would be so stupid unless you were not turning a very lucrative coin.

Vicky. 09-02-2017 02:26 PM

They must be foreign, as wasn't the whole reason for wanting to close our borders so we can look after our own...

Really..I saw that bandied around a lot. Heartwarming stories of little old ladies living like icicles and army vets on the street...that kind of thing.

Clock winders losing their jobs, probably a foreigner working there next week

thesheriff443 09-02-2017 02:39 PM

If you have an illness get help, the vast majority are English junkies and alcoholics, people may not know that if you have a drink or drug addiction you get benefits as you are classed as not being able to work they spend their benefits and beg for more drugs but if you are disabled you have to go to job seekers and prove you are looking for work.

Tom4784 09-02-2017 02:40 PM

The attitudes displayed on here towards the homeless is expected because those attitudes are of people who look for scapegoats to blame instead of accepting problems for what they are and doing something useful about them.

The homeless, unemployed, immigrants, single mothers, addicts. All have been blamed for society' woes by people content with burying their heads in the sand.

You know, what always makes me laugh is it's the exact same people who say 'charity begins at home' and 'we need to look after our own homeless' rather than refugees who are actually usually the ones to mock and turn their nose up at the idea of helping a homeless person

I'm actually tired of seeing 'when are you going to house a refugee?' because the real question is 'when are YOU going to house a homeless person?'

Indeed Jack and equally those who are more sympathetic toward refugees are usually the very people who also sympathise with their indigenous badly off people eventhough people like to make out that they're politically correct foreigner lovers who hate their own people blah blah blah

Crimson Dynamo 09-02-2017 02:47 PM

Just give them no money whatsoever and they will go away.

thesheriff443 09-02-2017 02:50 PM

I doubt anyone on here as found there self in a drug rehab waiting room full of junkies talking openly how they bring friends urine with them to use when they get tested to see if they are drug free so they can stay on a methadone program.
