According to a Wall Street Journal
analysis,
nine videos posted on the YouTube
page over the last six months
included anti-Semitic jokes.
One video featured two men holding
a banner which reads "Death to all Jews",
another saw a man dressed
as Jesus saying
"Hitler did nothing wrong".]

to think this kind of jokes would be OK.
Google-YouTube had no choice
but to stop his Disney account,
he has lots of Money
go get drunk........

His channel hasn't been pulled from YouTube arista... he has been dropped by "Maker Studios" which is a YouTube "stars" group owned by Disney and included PewDiePie and some other higher profile YouTubers. Given Disney's... murky... history when it comes to Naziism it's not surprising that they cut ties ASAP when this story broke.

PewDiePie overall is a fascinating / sort of horrifying story if you've been aware of him since early on. I genuinely think he has developed some mild mental health issues (depression, anxiety) as his channel has grown to such ridiculous proportions and he basically became an unprepared celebrity overnight. He's not a Nazi but he hasn't seemed quite... stable... for several months now.

I hear he's known for being a provocateur. Looks like he got carried away with his fame and didn't know where to draw the line.

Ech, Maker Studios got super greedy with their Youtubers, a lot of them have left since Disney took over, including Jesse Cox and the Yogscast.

He's generally moved from 'Let's Plays' to reacting to stuff like Idubbbz and H3H3, though, like Idubbbz, he seems to sometimes lean toward doing offensive comedy, rather than relying on goofs and gaffs.

I sort of think that he should potentially stop or scale right back at this point, or maybe even transition into mainstream media instead. He's made enough money already that he could basically retire from it completely... And like I said... I've not seen one video from him in a long time that's made me feel like he enjoys it any more. He seems miserable / frustrated / a little bit angry most of the time. A few months ago he did a few videos from America and he seemed to be genuinely depressed in them. He's totally burnt out in my opinion and if he keeps going too much longer he is going to crash and burn badly... Even these "Nazi allegations" are going to have major fallout... It's basically sensationalised bull**** but an allegation like that gaining traction in the media is bad news.

Have to wonder what the future of such stars is though - I'm not aware of his total personal wealth but what does one do when they tire of YouTube fame or similar pursuits? He seems too recognisable to maintain a normal life but too...insignificant to do anything else.

There's also the sneaking suspicion that his viewership (video views that is, I'm aware from a subscribers POV he's still top) has dwindled lately and this is all just a very convenient bit of publicity... but that's just me being needlessly cynical :laugh:

Seems to be a bit of an overreaction from the clips I've seen but I've not seen all of them tbh. It's satire and unless he comes out as an anti-semite, it should be treated as satire.

His personal net worth is definitely double-digit millions and there are estimates as high as $60 million :umm2:. Money is never going to be a concern unless he starts going through it like water... which seems unlikely as he isn't stupid... but I guess I would agree on the "bored of it" aspect. He left education to do it full time, etc... isn't really qualified to do anything else.

That said with personal wealth like that, and given that he isn't stupid (was already at University), he could probably pursue any other career that interests :shrug:.

So the concern as always has to be, what does a sudden influx on fame like that do to a person's mental health? You only have to look at Hollywood to see that people who become suddenly very famous, very young, often end up with serious existential issues.

Walt Disney was one of the world's most famous anti-Semites and a supporter of the Nazi party. So was Louis Vuitton... who also funded the Nazis. And Hugo Boss who designed uniform for the Nazis and the Hitler Youth. All these companies seem to have forgotten that part in their history.

I think it's probably the opposite though... Disney are very aware of their founder's Nazi associations, that's why they'll have ditched pewdz the second the story broke. They won't want to be near any question of it.

Until yesterday, I'd never heard of this guy, so I don't know much about it. However, I do follow and am a big fan of 'Sargon of Akkad' and he has done a video on this today.

You're probably right.

I was amused by the story that the Disney Corporation put out a memo to staff that they were to desist from using "Mouschwitz" instead of "Disneyland". Within hours it had been replaced with "Duckau".

I don't get holocaust humour :(

But yeah the fact Disney are dropping him for this reason is at best hypocritical.
