Primark ban RACIST Walking Dead T-shirt - "Fantastically Offensive"

http://media.breitbart.com/media/201...DeadTShirt.jpg

Is this Walking Dead t-shirt racist? Primark pulls item following a complaint. A Walking Dead t-shirt, featuring a quote and image from the US TV show, has been withdrawn from sale at Primark after a customer complained it was 'racist'.

The shirt was emblazoned with the words 'Eeny Meeny Miny Moe', along with a picture of a baseball bat, in reference to an episode of The Walking Dead in which a character says the phrase before beating a character to death.

Shopper Ian Lucraft told the Sheffield Star he first spotted the item while shopping with his wife. He said: "We were shocked when we came face to face with a new t-shirt with a racially explicit graphic and text.

"It was fantastically offensive and I can only assume that no-one in the process of ordering it knew what they were doing or were aware of its subliminal messages. "The slogan is “Eeeny meenie miny moe...” It stops there, but of course we all know what the original said: 'catch a n***** by his toe.'

"The graphic has a large American baseball bat, wrapped round with barbed wire, and covered with blood. This image relates directly to the practice of assaulting black people in America. "It is directly threatening of a racist assault, and if I were black and were faced by a wearer I would know just where I stood."

Fairly ridiculous, there's plenty of versions of that rhyme that don't include the racist line. It's just an example of someone wanting to be offended and looking for any excuse to be.

Niamh. 23-02-2017 02:00 PM

It's a quote from the Walking dead and the end of that quote doesn't have any racism in it

Lostie! 23-02-2017 02:04 PM

I don't know who I'm more embarrassed for, this self righteous busybody or Primark for actually caving in.

Jordan. 23-02-2017 02:04 PM

Lol at the outrage of it being racist and not the fact its a quote about who to murder

They should have explained the context to the customer, I guess if you didn't watch the walking dead you might be :umm2: but again the offensive line has not been used for years.

"were aware of its subliminal messages."

"If I were black"

Fecking idiot.

Obviously has'nt seen The Walking Dead.
Neegan says "eeny meeny miny moe catch a TIGER by his toe"

Nowhere is it racist and Primark are idiots for pandering to this.

thesheriff443 23-02-2017 02:33 PM

Wearing the wrong colour in some parts can get you killed.
People making a big deal out of it being withdraw is just as bad as those making a big deal about it being for sale.

I demand to wear this poor fitting Primark t shirt that all the other chavs wear.

JerseyWins 23-02-2017 02:34 PM

It's racist to tigers. #TigerLivesMatter

Jamie89 23-02-2017 02:40 PM

It didn't strike me as racist, I suppose if you associate the 'eeny meeny miny moe' line with racism then I can understand why someone would be offended seeing it (and if they haven't seen Walking Dead to get the reference) and I don't have a problem with that, you can't dictate what people should and shouldn't be offended by, but we shouldn't be banning everything that causes offence so Primark shouldn't have caved imo.

Livia 23-02-2017 02:56 PM

Eeeny meenie miny moe, catch a robber by his toe. That's what we used to sing as kids. And anyway, if it's related to a TV show that gives it context, right? To be honest I had to think about what someone could imagine is racist about it.

One man complains, the whole stock is pulled. Madness...

user104658 23-02-2017 03:02 PM

We used to say "tigger". It's like someone tried to change it to Tiger but had to compromise with some of the more stubborn kids.

But then it always confused me as a kid as I thought it must be about tigger from Winnie the Pooh, and I was like, isn't there only ONE tigger? Why is it "a" tigger?

Childhood was so confusing.

Amy Jade 23-02-2017 03:11 PM

I had no idea it was racist...the moron complaining must ne the sort who watches tv with warnings at the start just so he can complain to ofcom.

Primark should restock it.

Alf 23-02-2017 03:15 PM

"Eeny meeny miny moe, someone's knocking at my door"

I'm not answering though, they look like they're trying to sell me something.

Anyone who's going to take it upon themselves to publicly proclaim something is racist has an obligation to educate themselves on the context first. I could understand somebody being taken aback at first and then trying to find out more about it but this guy clearly went from step 1 straight to public moral outrage and made himself look like an absolute fool in the process.

And "if I was black I'd react like this" is massively problematic itself.

RichardG 23-02-2017 04:50 PM

i've never heard of a racist version or a walking dead version so i would have been more bemused by the weapon on the shirt than anything
