My day from hell

I just found out over half hour ago that my Grandad has died and i literally dont know what i am meant to do.

We have known he has been on borrowed time since he was dignosed with alzheimer's 8 years ago and we were told at xmas that he had days to live but he managed to defy odds and last 2 months longer.

I have a range of emotion that i am going through and i seriously have no clue what to do as this is the 1st time i have lost close family.

Sorry for your loss. Stay close to your family during this difficult time. Find strength in each other. R.

I'm sorry for your loss, Adam. It's almost been a year since I lost my Grandad, and I find myself missing him every day.

He may not have been healthy towards the end of his life, but you should take solace in the life that he lived, which lead to your existence today.

I'm sorry to hear that Adam - all I would advise you to do is to be there for your other family members and to open up as much as you feel comfortable with.

..Adam........there is no clue for any of us with grief and losing someone so close to us..just allow yourself to feel what you need to feel if and when you need to feel it...for some of us, what we need is to just try our best to focus our thoughts on 'normality' and distract and for others, there is a need to let emotions just flow...there is no right way or wrong way, grief is our own way....

...(I'm sure also that you needed to focus a little of your thoughts on a SD discussion there and there are no more understanding and caring hands than Marsh to find yourself in, so hopefully that helped also.....)..I'm so very sorry for yours and your family's loss, a great grandparent is something that is never lost though...

I'm so sorry to hear that Adam it's the worst thing in the world losing someone you love. There isn't anything to do except allow yourself to grieve for him and spending time with your family

Cherie 27-02-2017 03:38 PM

Aw he lasted on bless him, the thing about grief Adam is that it hits people in different ways, you will feel fine, then you will feel tearful, you will remember him with laughter and with tears, all of it is normal. Thoughts to you and your family. x

my condolences to you Adam :(

Sorry to hear about this Adam

When my grandad died from cancer which like you was the first close family member who had passed away I saw it as a massive relief from what he must have been going through. Obviously still very sad, but not as hard to take that he'd finally be at peace

Ross. 27-02-2017 03:47 PM

Very sorry to hear this Adam, sending my love to you and your family. There isn't a "right" way to grieve, spend time with your family and don't bottle your emotions up

Natalie. 27-02-2017 04:00 PM

Just be with your loved ones if you can.

Really sorry to hear that Adam

My nan died 11 days ago to this day & the only "good" thing to come of it (like Nathan said) was that the suffering finally stopped. My advice is to be there for your mum/dad as best as you can whilst still taking your own time to grieve

Crimson Dynamo 27-02-2017 04:59 PM

All part of life is death and we all have to face it. There are no rules. You iu just have to keep on going

Sorry to hear of your loss Adam. Have you thought of making a 'memory book' about his life. This might be a solace to you and other members of your family? All the bestXXX
