Rape survivor and the perpetrator interviewed on Newsnight

I don't really know what there is to discuss, but I thought this was such fantastic hard-hitting journalism that it was worth sharing.

Yes, I watched it.
It might surprise a lot of people how many victims of date rape or rape in a partnership just get on with it, not sure if it is because they feel they were in some way at fault, or as the woman said, she didn't realise it for what it was at the time.
In my own case I put it down to bad judgement and got on with life, and yes I did speak to him again.

I don't know what to think, I'm quite conflicted tbh. I don't think I can get past his presence in all of this but I recognise what they are trying to do as being potentially helpful in highlighting issues and misconceptions.

I don't understand where they stand with each other. Reading up on them, they say they've been on holidays, they have laughed together etc , and then she says they are definitely not friends and she is unsure if she would send him to jail if the statute of limitations wasn't up.

Here's the TED talk she references:

I think it should be shown in schools. Also, given what was discussed I've edited the title accordingly.

I love Ted Talks but its seldom I copy one to my social media channels. I've copied this one because its so inspirational and thought provoking. I agree, this should be shown in schools.

It's an interesting story because of its rarity. I think they've released a book or something? I think it's a good idea to get both sides of the story, however unpleasant his actions were, there is no better person to explain the thought processes behind the perpetration of rape than an actual rapist.

I understand why most would be unwilling to hear his side of the story / wouldn't want him to gain money or fame from it, but I would imagine any proceeds from their book (if there even is one, lol) would be donated to rape charities.
