Cheats, mind you no matter how much money they throw around how could people not see they were useless?

Livia 16-03-2017 10:13 AM

No one's yet mentioned the agents responsible for this. It's the agent who signs the expenses sheet, it's the agent who is responsible. You can go to jail for lying on your return, and pleading ignorance is no excuse. There's a reason the Electoral Commission exists and for someone to try to outfox them, or to be appointed to a position where they clearly couldn't cope makes me assume the people who did were idiots.

Kizzy 16-03-2017 10:18 AM

Is that called passing the buck?

No, it's the law.

Kizzy 16-03-2017 10:25 AM

You better inform the courts the tories are in the clear then.

Livia 16-03-2017 10:38 AM

I never said the Tories were in the clear. I said the election agent, appointed by a Tory candidate and working on behalf of the Tory party, is culpable.

Vicky. 16-03-2017 10:51 AM

Paid for from the expenses accounts no doubt :idc:

Obviously it doesn't work like that.

Parliament is dissolved when an election is called and there is no such thing and an MP or an expense account during the election campaign. Money spent on elections is usually from donations only.

Indeed they were, they were fined less because they admitted it straight away, didn't put up a fight and rattled cages.

And UKIP has been ordered to pay back €172,000 to the EU - "UKIP is accused of spending EU funds on national issues — for polling and analysis ahead of the 2015 general election and the Brexit vote in June this year — which is against EU rules." Just over half a million Euros involved in dodgy practises.
