I love this woman!

When someone says it's a "privilege" to be white, I know longer take it as an offense. I know it's a myth but I'll try to take it as a complement. If the person who says "white privilege" by implication wants to denigrate their own race (or gender) and say that being their race sucks in comparison to whites, then that will only hurt them.

It's a privilege to be white!!! It's beautiful and amazing to be white!!! No shame. :smug::smug::smug:

Branding people victims from birth doesn't help them.It just holds them back and gives them a giant chip on their shoulder.Give people confidence and tell them they can be anything they want and you never know.They might become president one day.

Nobody's saying anything about white washing history.Just don't tell people they're underprivileged because of the colour of their skin.Tell them that they're not good enough for long enough and it can become a self fulfilling prophecy.Terms like white privilege are counter productive and problematic.

I agree totally. In the West colour of skin no longer dictates success. It is state of mind that is much more likely to do that.

That is up to them now isn't it. People need to take responsibility for their own success and stop blaming everyone else for their failures.

You suggested that each ethnicity is not given an equal opportunity, but those with a lesser opportunity need to take responsibility and stop blaming others, Presumably those who are given a larger opportunity.
The imbalance of opportunity, which you are suggesting to exist, is exactly what people mean when they say white privaledge

Everyone in the West has equal access to education and therefore achievement. At the end of the day is up to everyone how they use that opportunity!

I believe that in the West, especially in Britain and any country that provides free education for all, everyone of average intelligence and determined to achieve by working and studying hard can be successful. Ethnicity is no longer a barrier to achievement, it is determination and self-belief that dictates success. That is the same for everyone.

If people don't value education and don't bother they have no-one to blame but themselves. It is also never too late. There are plenty of opportunities for those determined to make better lives for themselves and skin ethnicity has little to do with it in my opinion.

Yeah, I was more talking about America, I actually agree with you here, and will probs piss off others by saying I think White-privilege is more of an American issue (but not non-existent in Europe).
However, you have made the claim that a mindset for achievement is influenced by ethnicity, obviously a mindset for achievement influences achievement, and therefore success, education and wealth in the long run.
I'm not sure if you were talking about the entire West, or just America? But this is white privilege. The unequal balance favouring caucasians by default, and you have made it clear that you believe that this difference exists in the mindset for achievement, others believe that it extends further than this.
So looks like we're both in agreement that white privalege exists, would you like to discuss anything else?
