Has Anyone Been Watching This i love it it is really good .

smudgie 03-04-2017 05:07 PM

Yes.
I had just caught up with the last series before this one started.
Really gritty, I love it.
Watch Vera at. Eight then Line of Duty on I player later on.

Cherie 03-04-2017 05:13 PM

Watched series 1and 2 on Netflix and watching S3 on I player, it's great :D:

Lostie! 03-04-2017 05:52 PM

Such a brilliant show :clap1: I just watched the first 3 series last week, series 2 and 3 especially were ridiculously good. Keeley Hawes was a particular standout.

Still need to watch last night's new episode, probably will later on.

Lostie! 16-04-2017 05:18 PM

Just caught up on last week's. Hooked as usual :clap1:

Lostie! 18-04-2017 02:49 PM

So I watched episode 4 last night and this show still does a great job of constantly changing your perceptions of characters (one of the reasons series 2 was so brilliant was because I could never decide whether I thought Lindsay Denton was innocent or guilty). At the start of the series I was 100% sure Roz's husband was dodgy and now I just feel really bad for the guy (so he probably will still be involved in the end after all ). Roz is a TWAT but it's Thandie Newton so I still love her of course.

That scene where she turned the tables on AC12 during the interview really reminded me of that stellar scene in series 2 where Lindsay did the same thing :clap1:

Maneet! Though I think she's undercover and not really up to anything naughty (OR being forced into doing it), I actually hope she is for the shock value. And I don't trust the new officer Jamie either.

Caught up with S4 last night.

I don't know if it's because I haven't watched S1-3 yet but I can't get my head around the show's fanbase... like with characters like Steve Arnott and Hastings. I don't know why they're so beloved by fans  they're deeply flawed and imo unlikeable. Arnott in particular is a jumped up prick.

I just don't know if I can lump in with the anti-Roz sentiment that the show is meant to be building - partly because Thandie Newton is Thandie Newton, but also because she's only killed someone who was literally just about to dismember her  Yes, her framing of Michael and now Hana is obviously evil but I just find it something I'm willing to overlook :worry:

I also get quite a bit of anti-PC sentiment from this current series what with the frequent eyerolls over Roz's sexism claims (I can understand why they're perceived as OTT and reaching, but I do generally get a whiff of it from Hastings/Arnott anyway), that witness refusing to say "he's white" in front of Jamie, the other witness who'd IDed Michael in a videotape being dismissed by Arnott as making it up/being subject to Roz's feminine wiles....

Oh and is it just me or is the guy playing the ACC who tries it on with Roz a really bad actor? Every line he delivers sounds like it's from a cheesy porno. I dunno, maybe it's just me. I didn't like him in the Thick of It either, that probably doesn't help :p

In all I'm enjoying the show but in a sort-of "this is very dumb but pass the popcorn" way.

Dumb random prediction: Balaclavaman is Nick's lawyer. Dunno why but I've seen him in other shows and he's a good actor so he'd be a bit underused if it's just this episode just gone.

Lostie! 22-04-2017 06:21 PM

I'm not a fan of Arnott either. I do like Hastings though, in spite of his faults. I think Hastings in particular is someone you'd appreciate much more having seen the other series.

Tbf Roz is an unquestionably ruthless person, but those are usually the most enjoyable characters for me  And I'd say it's all more a case of her being willing to do whatever necessary for the sake of self preservation rather than her being a terrible person (but some of the things she's willing to do absolutely are terrible), but I think that all adds to her appeal. She's never going to be a good guy by any stretch but she's not a one-dimensional bad guy either. And yes, it's easy to forgive Thandie Newton a bit of murder, framing and spouse assault too I suppose.

Lostie! 30-04-2017 05:46 PM

So I love that they're now tying things back around to the first 3 series (never expected Jackie Laverty to be relevant again ) but people who've only seen the current series would have been bombarded with spoilers last week :joker:

I just recently found out that it's already been confirmed for a fifth series too so I can now enjoy the finale with that knowledge :clap1:

Phenomenal finale loved every last minutes as kept me hooked till the final minute with surprises be thrown around everywhere

JTM45 30-04-2017 09:56 PM

My heads still spinning after that finale episode!!!

I think Roz will get herself fitted for a hook and she'll be top dog in there within a fortnight. Could be a whole new spin-off show.

smudgie 30-04-2017 11:23 PM

Just watched the finale....excellent as usual.
Can't wait for series 5:dance:

Lostie! 30-04-2017 11:54 PM

I found the Balaclava Man resolution disappointing. I liked it being connected to the conspiracy that ran throughout series 1-3 (how it tied into the Jackie Laverty stuff was great) but I wish the specific Balaclava Man behind the attacks this series was an established character. Just felt underwhelming in that regard.

Speaking of the conspiracy, I love how each series starts out seeming to be a whole new case and always ends up being revealed as a continuation of that story. By series 4, I should have expected that pattern to continue but up until last week I really thought series 3 was the end of that chapter. Happy to be wrong though  I always did prefer shows that require full viewing rather than being able to jump into a later series.

If they actually go through with having Hastings be H  I mean, they're most likely messing with us but Hastings being the true big bad of the whole show would be amazing. I reckon it'll be Hargreaves from Murder Squad though.

Denver 01-05-2017 11:31 AM

7.5 Million Legends watched the finale :clap1:

BBC has ordered 2 more series :clap1:

Shaun 16-05-2017 10:14 AM

I did finally get around to finishing the series and loved it - I've just got a huge queue of shows to get through at the moment before I give s1-3 a spin.

Still want Vicky McClure (I can't call her by her character's name for some reason) to give Arnott a kick, mind, even if he is in a wheelchair.

Lostie! 16-05-2017 07:59 PM

I did enjoy series 4 but it's probably my least favourite of all 4 looking back.
